If Guns Kill People, then Pencils Misspell Words

Police can't be everywhere at once...

I’m going to go off the beaten path here for a few minutes with this blog.  Actually, it’s not really that far off the beaten path, but you may think so.  The subject of guns is always a hot button for many people.  Guns kill people.  You know, when someone is carrying a gun, the gun has a mind of its own, and irrespective of the wishes of the owner, guns manage to do what they want to do.

Liberals and other bleeding hearts have a way of getting people to believe that if all guns were outlawed, there would be no guns.  This of course, is absurd and even ludicrous.  They will follow that first statement up with something like, “If the outlawing of all guns saves only one life, it is worth it.”  It is said usually with a slightly choked up voice, or with a tear forming at the edge of the eye.  This shows the passion and dare we say, even love that the Liberal has for all people, and also attempts to imply that those who support the Second Amendment do not.

The picture that the Liberals like to paint is a society where cowboys carry their guns and deal with their differences by shooting lead at each other.  I have yet to see anyone dueling to the death like that, but nonetheless, Liberals continue to go with it.  Here in California, every time a violent crime happens involving guns, some knee-jerk Liberal politician decides that they are going to save the rest of Californians from ever experiencing that problem again, and so they attempt to create and pass laws that make it far more difficult to obtain guns…for the law-abiding citizen.

In one recent situation, a dear, loving, Liberal bleeding heart by the name of Assemblywoman Lori Saldana, D-San Diego, author of AB 1934 – the bill that outlaws “open carry” of unloaded, unconcealed firearms in public places – decided it was too much to have people walking around with holstered, unloaded guns.  This made people afraid, she said, and the people of California should not have to live in fear.  Well, that is swell and all, but how does eliminating the open carry option (again, of unloaded weapons) keep Californians free of fear?  It doesn’t.

The stupidity of that new legislation does not take into account the fact that all gangsters, or “gangbangers,” or whatever they like to be called, carry concealed weapons, which is against the law without a Concealed Weapons Permit.  I just don’t understand it.  Why wouldn’t these gangsters go through the proper channels so that they can legally carry their weapons in a concealed fashion?

So once again, Saldana and her brainless compadres have decided that if they squeeze law-abiding citizens more, people in California will be safer.  How does that equate?  Whether or not carrying an unloaded gun openly is fine or not isn’t even the point.  The point is that little by little, people’s rights are being taken away and it is not merely in the area of guns.  You say it doesn’t matter to you, because you don’t own guns and would never carry one anyway?  What about when it comes to citizens rights that will affect you?  Will you bark and complain then, or will you just suck it up?

There is an extremely small percentage of weapons on the street that are stolen either from gun shops, or law-abiding citizens.  Most handguns, without question, are smuggled into this country from places like Brazil (or other areas of South America).  It’s big money, like drugs, serving a thriving need among the criminal element.  Once in the country, they are sold on the Black Market to anyone who has the money.  No background check.  No waiting 10 days.  No having to sign your life over and give an ounce of blood.  You put money on the table, you walk away with a gun of your choice.

In California, automatic weapons are not allowed for citizens.  I can understand that, however, by taking away that option, once again, my gun rights are trampled.  The outlaws?  The gangsters?  They have no trouble obtaining an automatic, or a machine pistol, or an AK-47.  Why?  Because they circumvent all laws.

Though there are individuals who lack sense and intelligence, and want laws like anti-open carry legislation put into law, these laws do nothing to curtail violence, or take guns out of the hands of the criminal.  When the Liberals choke back alligator tears to say that saving even one life is worth it, I have to ask, what about the lives that were lost by convicts, lawbreakers and all the rest because individuals did not have means to protect themselves?  How many innocent people lost their lives because of the gun laws in California?  Of course, none of this affects the Liberal because they are really not concerned about those on the wrong side of the law, and to be even, those on the wrong side of the law are not concerned one iota about any law that’s out there.  All they are concerned with is not being caught when they break said law.

Yes, it is terrible when a child gets hold of a loaded gun and shoots themselves or another child.  Why are all people punished because of it?  Even in those cases I’ve read about, the parents – though threatened with punishment – never are punished.  Yet, more laws come into effect and since everyone is still emotional about it, then they go along with it, because they don’t want to see one more child killed.  How about punishing the parents or legal guardians of these kids?  It is the fault of the idiot who left the gun out in the open, or somewhere where the child could find it to begin with!  Most gun owners are not so stupid!  That doesn’t matter though to the imbeciles in Sacramento.  Though they can’t submit a budget for the state on time, they can continue to squeeze gun owners more and more.  Now of course, they want all long guns to be registered the same way handguns are registered.  Why?  Most long gun owners are hunters.  Long guns are not normally able to be concealed.  You might think, they SHOULD be registered!  That’s not the point though.  The point is losing rights that exist.

There is another piece of legislation that would prohibit purchasing ammo in California.  “Go ahead and buy your guns, but just TRY to get ammo!”  In reality, ammo would still be available through direct purchase (in-store), but I would not be able to buy it from a source outside of California.  That doesn’t bother you, you say?  Okay, then after the dust settles on this one, some other bird brain in Sacramento decides that there should be a limit on how much ammo I can buy!  Nevermind, that a whole host of people like me go to the range for practice target shooting.  It’s fun and it’s a hobby and my family enjoys it with me.  So they pass a law that limits me to one 20 or 30 round box of bullets each month and I might be able to get to the range once every three or four months and then for only 15 minutes!  Any idea how fast you can go through 20 or thirty rounds?  Considering that most pistols allowed into California have a magazine that holds ten bullets, you figure it out.  There are people who enjoy shooting weapons and enter into competitions all the time.  Why should they be affected negatively because somebody in Sacramento’s legislature decides that limiting ammo equals saving lives.  It only takes one bullet to kill someone.  But then, after that dust settles, soon, there is a ten-day waiting period to buy one 20 round box of bullets and I have to wait another six months to buy another.  How absurd can we get?

It is like having to go to the drugstore to buy Claritin-D.  I have to show my driver’s license, and fill out a piece of paper, which includes my address, my phone number, and my signature.  Why?  Because people have purchased and misused the drug found in medicines like Claritin-D.  Better penalize the entire citizenry over this one.  Nobody gets to buy it without license, signature, etc.  What a bunch of garbage!  And of course, the enforcement authorities come around to the individual drugstores on a monthly basis to ensure that the drugstores are doing everything properly.  Uh…sure.  Just another annoyance law created by people who have dust for brains.

Not long ago, “Justice Sonia Sotomayor used the phrase ‘settled law’ repeatedly during her confirmation hearings to win support.  Justice Sotomayor then worked to destroy the Second Amendment in the McDonald case.” [1]  It is equally clear that in spite of the fact that the Supreme Court has confirmed and upheld the Second Amendment, newly confirmed Justice Kagen will work right alongside Sotomayor to eliminate gun owner’s rights.

It is a proven fact that where guns are outlawed (like in Chicago until recently, in spite of the fact that guns were illegally outlawed there), crime goes up.  Criminals are not stupid.  They are simply evil opportunists.  They take things – property, lives, or whatever – when they believe they can get away with it.  When they know they are working in an area where guns are prohibited (in spite of the Second Amendment), they work more effectively.  There are more muggings, more assaults, more murders, more robberies in these places.  Now, take a place where guns are allowed, where they can even be worn in plain view.  Or, take a place where home owners are allowed to protect themselves with guns if they believe their life is in danger.  Criminals still take chances in those situations, but they are much more careful.  If they know that there is a chance that the person they may may mug has a concealed gun on them, they are going to think twice or even three times.  If they mug a few people, and each time, the person mugged fights back and pulls a gun on their attacker, you can bet that the criminal is going to literally be gun shy.

Not long ago, I watched one of those “reality” TV shows where a man with a gun went into a store for the express purpose of robbing it.  He went up to the counter and demanded all the money.  The woman who sat behind counter seemed non-plussed.  She pulled out her own gun and without hesitating, fired once at the perpetrator’s chest.  He flew backwards and fell to the floor.  There he lay, wriggling, and begging her not to shoot him again.  He was in tremendous pain and it was difficult for him to breathe between the yells for “help me,” “Oh god!” and “don’t shoot!”

Suppose the woman did not have a gun?  It’s possible the man would have come in, demanded the money and left.  Fat chance.  Most of the time, they like to beat the innocent person senseless and on a few occasions, I have seen videos of them coming to the counter, say nothing, shoot the person behind the counter, then go for the cash register.  There is no guarantee that the person will not be shot during the course of the robbery, because criminals have become more thoughtless, and more violent.

Suppose someone breaks into my home in the middle of the night?  Obviously, they are there for no good purpose?  If I do not have any way of protecting my family, I am worthless!  What if – as has happened on some occasions – the perpetrator(s) ties me and my son up, then proceeds to rape my wife repeatedly, all because I have no way to protect myself except possibly with the use of a baseball bat?  If I had a gun, the rape would not have happened, I guarantee it.

I really do not understand how Liberals and bleeding hearts think.  They irrationally believe that simply by taking away gun rights from law-abiding citizens, they will have solved the problem of violence and violent crime in this United States.  Frankly, I don’t believe they believe that.  I actually believe that it goes deeper than that, beyond simply removing guns from those of us who have never broken the law and have no intention of doing so.  I believe little by little, Liberals want to take away all rights that they believe are unnecessary for the average individual.

While Republicans generally want less government, Liberals and Democrats seem to want more government.  More government to me means Socialism, or Communism.  It can ultimately lead to a dictatorship, or Absolute Imperialism, like that which will exist under the reign of terror of the Antichrist.  This is why I believe average Americans are losing their rights daily, inch by inch.  It is to give the government more room to control our lives.

Think about it.  Someone out there is going to say, “Well, I don’t believe people should have guns anyway!”  That’s really too bad, because the Second Amendment guarantees that right.  These same people who believe all guns (especially handguns) are bad (because guns kill people, right?) are the SAME people who also do not believe that illegal aliens should be deported!  In truth, these Liberals are in effect, agreeing that laws should be ignored or broken.  In spite of the Second Amendment, they believe guns should not be available to the average citizen.  They also believe that illegal aliens should be given driver’s licenses, given free education for their children, and have access to free health care.  Trouble is that it is only free to them.  I (along with millions of other taxpayers) are footing the bill!

If guns kill people, then pencils (or keyboards) misspell words, or alcohol causes driving deaths (not the drunk driver), and we can blame obesity on utensils.  This is ludicrous.  Why, oh why, do Liberals and bleeding hearts exist?  Moreover, why do they actually believe they make sense?

Taking away my right – as a law-abiding citizen – to own a gun is like taking away my right to pray in public, or say the Pledge of Allegiance, or to recite the Ten Commandments.  Is this country better because prayer is not in schools?  Is it better because in many areas, the Pledge of Allegiance is gone.  Are people better off because they are no longer reminded that God has ten major commands that He says will make life better for all people?  HA!  If you believe so, then you my friend, are a Liberal bleeding heart.

Thou shalt not kill.  Yeah, that’s too religious.  Can’t abide by that one.

Thou shalt not steal.  No way.  I should be able to steal if I want to do so.

Thou shalt not covet they neighbor’s wife.  Okay, now God has gone TOO far!  I have needs…

Imagine if the ten members of the medical team just slaughtered by the Taliban had guns on them.  Now granted, they probably would not have taken guns, but let’s say they had.  They might be alive today.

If a criminal is ever stupid enough to try to break in my home in the middle of the night while we are there, sleeping, he will be carried out in a body bag.  That sounds cruel to some.  It sounds violent to others.  The truth remains that I have every right to use lethal force against someone trying to harm me, my wife, or one of my children?  If they want to take something and run, they can go for it.  If they turn to look at my wife with a lascivious eye, they have crossed the line in the sand.

I have yet to hear a reasonable response to the query:  Why do anti-gun laws affect only law-abiding citizens?  What is being done to get guns out of the hands of the criminals? The answer to the first one is simple.  It is because law-abiding citizens obey the law.  This makes the legislators feel as though they are really accomplishing something.  The answer to the second one is just as simple.  It is because criminals do not obey the law.  The legislators can pass any law they want to pass and the criminals will continue to ignore them.  There is a ten-day waiting period for handgun purchases.  Not if you’re a criminal, who has the money and the contacts there isn’t.

People need to wake up and not about gun rights.  They need to wake up about ALL of our rights as citizens of the United States (and other countries as well that is not governed by some despotic moron).  Our rights are being skimmed away and we do not even KNOW about it half the time because the legislature does things quietly, pushing a bill through with an attached something or other that becomes law through the back door.

One day, the people of this world will wake up to find that our lives are fully controlled.  Do you want that?  Do you fear that?  Might as well send us to prison now because it will be the same thing.  People watch movies all the time with this type of message, but they go “Phew, glad society is not really like that!”  The trouble is that it is fast-becoming just like that.  Wakey, wakey.
