9/11 and How Far We’ve Come

It seems like just yesterday...

On September 11, 2001, two planes slammed into the WTC in New York City.  It was early, we were just starting our day, and the phone rang.  It was my sister from Georgia crying, trying to explain what had just happened.  We quickly turned on the TV and watched in horror as smoke billowed from the first tower that had been hit.

As we continued talking, a second plane slammed into the other tower.  It was unreal.  It seemed like something out of a movie!  At first it seemed as though the first hit was possibly an accident.  The second plane dispelled all doubt.  It had been planned by people were obviously murderous in their intentions.

That day, nearly 3,000 people died, having been (as we would find out later) sacrificed to Allah by radical Muslim extremists.  It was unbearably tragic.  For days and weeks following, images of people standing at the end of where windows used to be, begging for help raced across the screen.  Many of these individuals would later jump because the thought of burning to death was understandably something that no one wanted to willingly do.

Even in their suicidal jump, it was learned that the distance they fell was not even enough to cause unconsciousness, so they were awake and alert as they smashed into the pavement, or the roof of part of the tower mere seconds after they jumped.  While this occurred, pictures and video also began to come to the fore that included celebrants of this carnage in various parts of the world.  We watched in horror as Muslim extremists shouted with victory at how great Allah had been by allowing them to kill nearly 3,000 “infidels” in one swell swoop.

We also followed with intense interest and an equal amount of horror, the situation with the Pentagon and Shanksburg, PA, where planes ended their flights there.  This type of tragedy defies description!

Since that time, the world has learned a great deal about Islam and while we constantly hear the mantra “Islam is a religion of peace,” there was little to nothing in the actions of Muslims throughout the world that supported that notion.

It is now 2010.  The buildings that once stood as twin towers of the World Trade Center are gone, with nothing but a hole in the ground.  While the buildings are gone, the dead are not forgotten, either the dead in the towers or the dead in the planes that crashed into them.  Neither do we forget the dead that crashed into the Pentagon, or those that died as the plane nose-dived into the ground in Pennsylvania.

In spite of the fact that nine years has passed since these premeditated attacks on innocent people – a virtual act of war on the sovereignty of the United States – we must ask ourselves, what has changed, anything?  Has the world grown toward peace?  Have people come to understand how to “get along” with each other better, in spite of religious differences?  The answer is sadly, no.  Not only have people not learned how to get along better, but for many radical Muslims, the act of war committed against the United States on September 11, 2001, was merely the beginning.

Radical Islam shows no sign of backing down.  Moreover, with every new crime against humanity, the extremists are empowered that much more.  On September 10, 2010, President Obama spoke to the world, stating that Islam is not the problem.  He said al-Queda is the problem.  I will have to respectfully disagree with the man.  Islam is what gave birth to al-Queda.  Islam has encouraged the vicious acts of violence that caused 9/11.  Islam has created an environment in our society that makes people question their own longevity.  Islam has told the world repeatedly that they will not back down, nor will they listen to reason.

Mr. President, Islam is the problem.  If it has the power to create radicals who are so bent on destruction, so filled with contempt and hatred, then yes, Islam is the problem.  Are these radical Muslims isolated?  Are they anomalies?  Do they act, think, and speak in ways that are foreign to the Qur’an and teachings of Muhammad?  No, not at all.  As Muhammad lived, so he taught.  As he taught, others learned and mirrored his actions.

Islam is a global problem.  It is really a global disaster, a war that has been waiting to happen.

Imam Rauf, who insists that the Ground Zero mosque should be built in the shadow of the fallen WTC says that 9/11 occurred in part because of the foreign policies of the United States.  He says we share the blame.  He is wrong, because radical Muslims have attacked people, villages, and cities that have done nothing to them.  They have done so because this is what Muhammad did.  They are simply emulating their founder.

The actions the world witnessed on 9/11 was merely the start of the globalization of Islam.  If the entire world was at peace, with no one fighting anyone, and everyone holding hands, drinking Coca-Cola(tm), radical Muslims would still wage into that scene and kill people.  They would do so because they earnestly believe that the final Mahdi cannot rise unless there is something to rise from.  There must be massive chaos, destruction, and mayhem, which radical Muslims believe will usher in the last Mahdi.  Without this coming mayhem, the Mahdi cannot appear.

This is what radical Muslims work toward.  This is what they desire to achieve.  Think of it.  These individuals are so warped that they actually believe that Allah cannot send the final Mahdi, unless they – mere human beings – create such hell on earth, that the Mahdi will have something to fix when he arrives.

There is something terribly wrong with a religion that actually yearns for massive death and destruction of innocent people.  There is something very tragic about people who believe that the more destruction they cause, the more they will bring about the final hour, and the final Mahdi.

Because these individuals think as they do, they see their course set in stone.  They are unmovable, unwavering, and resolute.  Death means gaining paradise with 70 virgins (who knows where those virgins are coming from).  Death means reward.  Death by martyrdom means a pat on the head by Allah, who is apparently, a god who hates so perfectly that he entices his followers to prove their loyalty by seeing how much they can hate as well.

This world is in for it because of the mentality of Muhammad’s followers.  They are not interested in peace the world’s way.  They are interested in the mass destruction that they believe will bring about the appearance of the last divine ruler.  This ruler, they believe, will reward their earnestness, their killing mentality, and their complete lack of compassion and grace.

In truth, what is happening is the removal of all traces of humanity in these individuals.  What is replacing it is a horror so despicable that it can only have come from hell itself.

As the world winds down, there will likely come a day when the 9/11 of 2001 will look like a small campfire compared to the amount and level of catastrophe that will take place in the future.  This cataclysmic upheaval will be generated by radical Muslims who see no value in human life (except their own), and long for the destruction of all who are not of Islam.

Though we must never forget 9/11, we must also remember that the people who perpetrated those murderous acts, were merely a handful of extremists among millions scattered throughout the world.  Those handful did what the millions hope to accomplish.

Yes, Mr. President, the problem is Islam because of what it gives rise to and what it destroys.  Islam is the problem and we must never forget that truth.  On one hand, we have come a long way, but it is not a good way.  We have come to learn more about the enemy that seeks to destroy us.  Since 9/11, the enemy has come out from his hiding place, dancing openly in the street, to the cheers of his brothers and comrades in arms.

Islam has no patience for anyone that stands in its way.  Islam has no compunction against killing those who oppose it.  Islam has one goal and one goal only and that is to be superior to everything else, that it might rule the world with a rod of iron, in hatred and punitive judgment.  The world is a dark place indeed.  If it ended with that, there would be no hope at all.

Fortunately, our hope is in the Lord, Jesus Christ, King of kings, and Lord of lords.  He is over all things and all people.  He will vanquish the enemy of our soul and those who have sided with him (Satan).

Though the world is becoming very dark, the light at the end is the only wise God, our Savior, who will enter the fray, take possession of this planet, and rule with holiness, truth, and love.  These attributes are completely lacking within Islam, a religion born of hate, carried along by that same hate, and will ultimately collapse in on itself because of that hate.
