Rick Perry: Standing Up FOR Israel

Just today I learned that Governor Rick Perry (Texas) took a stand FOR Israel with respect to the ridiculous Gaza flotilla situation.  Currently, the flotilla is stalled in a Greek harbor.

Perry – who is certainly in line to receive God’s blessing for his courageous stand against this ungodly act – wants the Department of Justice to “take action against any American citizens who are taking part in the recent flotilla aimed at providing aid to terrorists in Gaza.” [1]

The article further states “Fox News reports that Perry recently wrote Attorney General Eric Holder that he had information about American citizens being aboard two U.S.-flagged ships in the flotilla. He is urging Holder to take legal steps against any Americans involved with the operation.” [2]

Of course, it remains to be seen whether Holder will even give lip-service to Perry’s request, much less actually do something about it.  But that is not really the point.  The main point is that there are leaders in this United States who realize the biblical mandate that exists to stand FOR and WITH Israel during these times of extreme hardship and terrorist plots against that nation.

While it is hoped that this flotilla will come to naught, the reality is that even if it continues on its course toward Gaza, it is good to know that people are taking a stand where Israel is concerned, siding with them, standing with them.  What is of course, absolutely incredible is when Jewish individuals take part in these flotillas.  In doing so, they have taken the side against Israel and therefore against God.

The same article tells us that an American based in Israel – Dr. Alan Bauer – is also suing to stop the flotilla from happening.  He believes that the U.S. can step in and stop this based on Neutrality Act of 1794.

These situations provide the Obama Administration with chances to change their mind about Israel.  God is offering Mr. Obama and Mr. Holder the opportunity to rethink their position against Israel and to do the right thing.

The world – because of the lefthead media – hears only what the media wants us to know about Gaza.  To hear the media tell it, Gaza has no provisions and is essentially like a third world country, barely able to eek out a living.  Big, bad, terrible Israel is the tyrant in the situation, causing dire straights for everyone in Gaza.  Is that the truth?

In 2004, the Grand Palace Hotel opened its doors to the public.  “Built to exceed customers expectation as it is located at the beach side of Gaza city with the direct beach view, the hotel welcomes its guests…This 5-star hotel is located on the beach in Gaza, so it makes a great place for the flotilla ships to dock. Due to the humanitarian needs in Gaza, this hotel is in desperate need of tiny umbrellas to go into mixed drinks, as well as fresh caviar to be served to hotel guests on the beach. It is vital, therefore, that the Gaza flotilla ships arrive in a timely manner and must not be delayed by Israeli ships.” [3]

In 2010, the new Gaza Mall opened its doors to welcome thousands of excited customers.  “The two-floor compound, each stretching over roughly 9,700 sq. ft, offers international brands as well as much-needed air conditioning. Tens of thousands of shoppers from Rafah to Beit Hanoun have already visited the site within a matter of days, making the center Gaza’s new craze.” [4]

There are some major players connected with this mall.  “There are international firms such as Adidas and Lacoste and Paris’ top selling perfumes.” [5]

But it’s not all hotels and shopping in Gaza.  “The Crazy Water Aqua Fun Park was opened in May 2010, destroyed by Hamas militant, and completely rebuilt. The landscaped park featured three swimming pools, a canal 100 meters long, three water slides, ponds with pedal boats, a restaurant, a cafe, and a quiet area shaded by a tent where adults could sit on carpets and listen to music.” [6]

There is also an Olympic-sized Swimming Pool that caters to thousands in Gaza, as well as the Gaza Horseback Riding Club, and all the fun you could want at the Gaza Sports Stadium.  In 2010, the Gaza World Cup (Soccer) was broadcast live from this stadium, complete with banners and signs demanding ending the “siege” in Gaza. [7]

Then there are the beautiful Gaza beaches and the Gaza Surf Club.  Photos of these beaches show them crowded with fun-loving people enjoying the surf, the sun, the camaraderie and the food!  There are plenty of 5-star restaurants, luxury cars and anything else a visitor (or resident) of Gaza needs to enjoy the finer things in life.

The absolute fraud that is being perpetrated on the entire world by the left is unconscionable.  It boggles my mind to see individuals from the U.S. or Canada join these flotillas as they fight against the “hardships” faced by the people of Gaza.

When has the media talked about what I’ve talked about in this article?  When has the left pointed out the wonderful amenities that await visitors to Gaza, or those same amenities that the people of Gaza can enjoy?

The cruise lines are literally lining up to get into port – forget the flotillas for a moment!  With them, they bring customers with money who pour that money into the Gaza economy.  Folks, while there are poor people in Gaza, as Jesus said, the poor will always be here (cf. Matthew 26:11).  Having poor people does not mean that Gaza is under siege.  It simply means that they have their share of poor people like any other country!

People can be absolutely idiotic at times.  They get caught up in the emotion of everything and go with their feelings.  We need to go with the truth of God’s Word.

God bless people like Rick Perry, governor of Texas.  We need more leaders like him who are willing to put their political careers on the line by following the Lord, as opposed to doing what is politically correct to serve themselves.

Folks, we need to stand up for Israel.  God will not let us off the hook if we do not.
