The Attacks on Rick Perry Have Begun…In Earnest

I have been trying to sort through all of the allegations related to Rick Perry over the past few days and it’s been a bit tough to do. I previously noted that without wasting any time, the Undynamic Duo, Ed Schultz and sidekick Al Sharpton, both accused Gov. Perry of referring to Mr. Obama as a “black cloud” that hangs over America. Rather than apologize, Schultz simply played the entire – unedited – part of the speech showing clearly that Perry was referring in fact, to America’s debt, not Mr. Obama.
Last night, I forced myself (with a barf bag handy) to watch Al Sharpton during the 3:00 to 4:00 news time on MSNBC. There, he roundly castigated Perry for on one hand, Perry’s condemnation of Mr. Obama’s stimulus package, while on the other hand, taking what the Feds handed out to in part, balance the state budget of Texas. Sharpton and his guests were attempting to show Perry as the galling hypocrite they think he is and kept trying to hammer things home for the TV audience.
They are partly correct. Yes, Perry condemned the stimulus package and for good reason. It simply takes taxpayer money and hands part of it back to the states. In essence then, the “stimulus” comes from government (taxpayer) money, not private sector money.
At the same time, Sharpton and his gang are not correct to call Perry a hypocrite. For instance, I too believe that government stimulus packages are essentially pointless, because all they do is put off for another day, the inevitable, by handing out tax dollars.
Since taxpayer dollars are used for the stimulus, then it simply puts the Federal gov’t further in debt. At the same time, if the Feds came to my house and said they were going to pay off my home with taxpayer money, it would be asinine of me to object to it. I doubt that you would either. However, the stimulus package really does little to nothing to actually improve the economy.
The point is that if the Feds want to create a “stimulus” package using taxpayer dollars that ultimately will not create anything lasting, nor will it create new jobs, and if they want to use part of that stimulus money to free me of my debt to my home, then they should go for it. Absolutely. They are wasting money, but if they want to pay off my house or yours, then they are free to do that and I would be stupid to not accept their offer. In the end, it is still ridiculous of the government to want to pay off my home, but even more ridiculous of me if I tried to stop them.
So Sharpton, et al, were busy laughing and snickering at Gov. Perry because of his alleged hypocrisy. Of course, what they conveniently ignored (like all good liberals) is that Texans paid at least part of the taxes that the Feds decided to use as stimulus. In that case, why should Texans also not directly reap the benefit by getting some of their tax dollars back?
So on one hand, we have the liberal media first accusing Gov. Perry of being a racist with Schultz and Sharpton (Sharpton would know what a racist is by the way, since it is clear from his own notoriety dating back to the Tawana Brawley situation in New York State years ago, that he is a racist himself). Not to be outdone though, good ol’ Chris Matthews got into the act as well referring almost giddily to Perry as a “Bull Connor with a smile.” Someone needs to calm Matthews down a bit. He’s like a chihuahua barking its head off, but has no real bite. Oh, and for those not in the know, Connor was the Commissioner of Public Safety in Birmingham, AL and because of his position was able to deny civil rights to blacks. From the photos I’ve seen of Connor, he never smiled. Supposedly, that’s Rick Perry. Really? Where is the history of Perry’s involvement against civil rights for people of color? I would appreciate if someone would show me how he has acted like Bull Connor.
Meanwhile, on another front that’s somewhat related, Mr. Obama has announced his forthcoming plan to create jobs in this country. Unfortunately though, they are jobs that the government will be paying for and that means that our taxes will be paying the salaries of the individuals who go to work under Mr. Obama’s job package.
What’s wrong with that you say? Well, the problem is that as I pointed out previously, jobs that are paid for by taxpayer dollars do not add to the economy. Because salaries will be paid with taxes, that simply means that the Federal government will go further into debt. We will then possibly get to another point where the debt ceiling needs to be raised and more taxes will need to be taken from the average American to support the “new” jobs that Mr. Obama says he wants to create.
Many on the conservative side of Congress will recognize this problem and stand against it. This will allow Mr. Obama to once again, charge that the Republicans are holding America hostage. He will say that he wants to accomplish things for America, but the Republicans are standing in the way. He will accuse the Republicans of “politics” when in point of fact, they are worried about the lack of new money to pay for the salaries of people who will essentially be working for the government. Mr. Obama essentially wants to make the government larger, as opposed to doing what he can to actually stimulate economic growth through private sector jobs.
Think about the fact that when you drive through a construction zone, you almost always see a sign that says “Your Tax Dollars At Work” or something similar. That’s exactly correct and these are the type of jobs that Mr. Obama wants to create with our tax dollars. He will need more of our tax dollars before he’s done. How does that help the average American who is not on some type of entitlement program? It doesn’t.
What this country needs is more private sector jobs, but unfortunately, this administration has made it very difficult for that to happen with some of the new regulations that have come into effect since Mr. Obama took office. Private sector jobs are the type of jobs that put new cash into the economy, allowing the government to receive more money and not give it away. Anyone can create more government jobs. That’s not difficult at all. In fact, it’s a no-brainer. The really difficult thing to do is stimulate the economy so that private sector jobs are able to be created and grow. This is how the economy is stabilized over the long haul, not with temporary government jobs that rely on taxes.
When government jobs are created, there is no new money that automatically comes back into the Federal coffers. It simply goes out. Yes, those being paid will pay income taxes, but that’s nothing and it is still based on money that the government paid out.
This is part of the reason behind the attack against Perry. He was able to balance Texas’ budget with Federal funds, which essentially put our government further in debt. Unlike Perry though, some governors did not use the stimulus package to balance their budgets, but instead, used the money for things that were connected to the budget but were additional areas that did not pay down the budget overage.
So, are we beginning to see how things are working here? The media are portraying Gov. Perry as a racist, someone they say is far worse than George W. Bush (I didn’t think that was possible, as far as liberals are concerned). In fact, last night, as I watched Sharpton and while I did my best to hold back some vomit that kept trying to sneak up from my stomach, it seemed that he spoke of Bush in almost nostalgic terms; almost lovingly. I swear he almost got misty-eyed. This Rick Perry must be some kind of guy, shouldn’t he?
Sharpton also pointed out that Perry used to be a Democrat, (albeit a very conservative one at that, to be able to successfully make the switch from that to Republican). Karl Rove was brought into the picture to try to prove just how far right Perry truly is, that he is on the outs with right-winger Rove and Bush.
All of this is to say that it is clear that the liberal media is bound and determined to go after any front-runner who stands the greatest chance of defeating Mr. Obama in 2012. For now, that person appears to be Perry. Why would we vote for Perry? After all, according to liberal pundits, he’s a racist. If you vote for Perry, that makes YOU a racist too, get it? We know who is behind this, don’t we?
We will very likely not hear anyone on Team Obama publicly accuse anyone of being racist. Neither Obama nor his team need to because they have a lap dog in the liberal media that is taken over that job. The liberal, left-leaning media is clearly the designated driver for the racist cause. I doubt they will let up regardless of how many times they are caught in complete fabrications like the one Ed Schultz and crony Sharpton were caught in. It’s interesting though that these two bozos can continue on, looking right into the camera without blinking (no shame) and pretend they are right, even when they’re wrong. How can they do that? Because all mainstream news bureaus except FOX is on their side, that’s how. No one listens to FOX, right? FOX lies, according to liberals.
So we’ve been seeing what the media is charged with committing against Perry. But what about other groups that seem to be against Perry? I have read a number of reports that more than suggest that Perry is also in bed with the Muslim community. He allegedly supports radical Islam.
When I first read these reports, I thought they were going way overboard, so I had to do the research. These reports and articles have come from the likes of Robert Spencer (Jihad Watch), Pamela Geller (Atlas Shrugs), Joel Richardson (Word Net Daily), so could these folks be wrong? It certainly makes you wonder, doesn’t it? I mean, these are not stupid people. Are they overreacting here?
The main beef these individuals have is due to Perry’s “relationship” with a guy named Aga Khan. He is Muslim to be sure, therefore, his “religion” is Islam. However, what do we know about this guy? Is he a radical Islamist, bent on the destruction of America and Democracy everywhere?
Aga Khan is an affluent billionaire who has known Perry for at least a decade. Interestingly enough, CAIR (the Council on American-Islamic Relations) tends to see this as a non-issue. Higher on their radar is the fact that Perry met with a conservative (some believe “cultish”) Christian group for a prayer meeting, where Perry himself encouraged prayer and fasting for our nation. Because of this, CAIR and others denounced Perry because of his ties with a group whose members have made negative statements about Islam.
With respect to Perry and Khan, CAIR spokesman Mustafaa Carroll has said, “Perry’s relatioship with the Muslim community is fairly middle-of-the-road in practice. The exclusivity of his recent prayer rally didn’t help him build any alliances with Muslims, he said, but overall the tone is neither supportive nor negative.”[1]
With respect to Perry’s relationship with Khan, Carroll specifically pointed out, “I can’t speak to his motivations aligning with [the Aga Khan], but there may be some other benefits in that relationship.”[2] In short, from my research, it appears as though Perry’s relationship with Khan is a non-issue.
A larger issue surrounds all the money that Mr. Obama received from overseas benefactors, many alleged to be connected with terrorists. I don’t see the media jumping on that one.
Consider the fact that at every turn, Mr. Obama has found a way to ignore associating with Christians. He has dutifully ignored Christian holidays, (as pointed out previously), yet seems not to miss an opportunity to pray with Muslims. Mr. Obama quotes from the Qur’an and extols the alleged virtues of contributions by Muslims to the world and allegedly to America. Aside from the fact that Muslims created sulfuric acid, I can’t think of anything else that can be construed as positive that they have contributed to society. Of course, even there, sulfuric acid can easily be used to destroy, rather than build up.
The more I research this, the more I believe there is no problem at all. My understanding is that Khan is from the Shia side of Islam. These individuals have been killed by radical Islamists as being traitors. Do we have something to be concerned about here? They certainly do, if they happen to be around radical Muslims.
Let’s face it. How could our next president ignore Muslims? It would be asinine for any president to ignore Muslims the way Mr. Obama ignores Christians. Yet, the media gives Mr. Obama a pass on that and it is likely they would not give Perry (if he becomes president) a pass if he chooses to ignore Muslims in like manner.
It troubles me that not only the media but Christians seem to be piling up reasons why Perry would make a lousy president. This gives reason for red flags to go off. These same Christians do not seem to be speaking out against Mitt Romney because of his Mormonism, yet they are bashing Perry because he is trying to be a president for all people. I really think this is much ado about nothing. We forget, that Perry is not interviewing for a Senior Pastor position at a church. He is running for political office.
Perry is – allegedly – a staunch supporter of Israel. If so, how could he also be a staunch supporter of Islam? I can’t imagine the man is stupid. I believe he understands the ramifications of radical Islam and there is nothing in his history that I have been able to find that tells me he is simply trying to pull the wool over our eyes. If that was the case, I would think the media would be very much in support of Gov. Perry, not against him. Have we forgotten (or did not know) that Gov. Christie appointed a Muslim judge to a bench?
You can vote for anyone you want to vote for; I’m certainly not going to tell you who to vote for (or not), or imply that a specific person should have your vote. The reality seems to be that Gov. Perry is not what the media and certain Christian organizations are portraying him to be. I certainly do not believe Perry is a racist at all. I also do not believe he is in bed with Islam. He’s a smart man and the media knows it.
Because Perry supports Israel (or says he does), then it seems reasonable to believe that if he becomes our next president, things would change with respect to the way our nation views and works with Israel. I think the media knows this and so is on the campaign to derail his bid for president before it even gets off the ground. The fact that they can fabricate racism with respect to Perry tells me that they are deathly afraid of the possibility that he could conceivably knock Mr. Obama out of office.
The fact that Perry supports Israel is enough for him to get my vote. I truly believe that if the person in the Oval Office supports Israel, God will bless this nation because of that alone.
What we have to remember is that Gov. Perry is running for the office of the president of the United States. Because of that, he must reach out to all people, whether we think they are cults, or radical Islamists. It would be nice if we had a Christian president who only sided with Christians and did whatever he/she could to bring this country back to its founding principles. However, a person like that will never get elected in this country – never.
The president of this country must represent all people and must do whatever it takes to unite this country, not further separate it. Should Perry never appoint a Muslim to a post in his administration? That would be foolhardy.
Mr. Obama – in my opinion – is a perfect example of a president who picks and chooses whom he will support and/or side with and he clarifies that position for us all the time. He obviously does not support Israel, nor does he support Christians.
Right now, Hillary Clinton is working with the UN to eradicate free speech when it comes to making statements that are seen as negative (even if true) about religious groups. I’m thinking that this will mainly apply to Islam and no one else. This same Clinton is doing what she can to again work with the UN to remove our 2nd Amendment rights to bear arms. If we need an example of what a society looks like with these two things enacted, look no further than Great Britain. Do you want that? This is what our current president is working toward.
But now, we have Christians and Christian groups standing in Perry’s way, actually siding with the liberal media, to defeat him before he even gets a chance to make any headway. I’m not sure that’s fair. I’m not sure it’s expedient. I’m not sure that it is the truth about Perry.
We need to give Gov. Rick Perry the benefit of the doubt and we need to stop harping on aspects of the man that are seemingly being blown out of proportion. He is running to be president, not the leader of a local church body. Let’s give him a break and support him until actual facts come out that tell us to do otherwise. Rick Perry deserves it and our country deserves it. You’re certainly free to disagree with me, but you really need to ask yourself this question: why are there so many attacks so early against Rick Perry? It only makes sense if we understand that leftheads and their ilk are doing all that they can to derail Perry’s campaign before it even gets started.
I personally believe that all of this is much ado about nothing. Again, Gov. Rick Perry is running for president. Let’s treat Perry as innocent, until (and if) it gets to a point where he has been proven otherwise. I think America owes him (and any candidate) that much, don’t you? I sure hope so.
