Martial Law and the Coming World Leader

I’ve read it and heard it discussed as many times as you, I’m sure.  Funny how there is always something new to realize about things, even if heard or read often.

Revelation 13:17 reads, “and he provides that no one will be able to buy or to sell, except the one who has the mark, either the name of the beast or the number of his name.”  Looking ahead, I see a picture of what this looks like in my head.  I can’t really emotionally appreciate the situation because I’m not there, although something helps me understand it in far greater terms.

Imagine if the United States came under Martial Law.  It is clear from Scripture that at some point in the future, the entire world will be under it.  But let’s just consider the U.S. for now.  If there was someone who was president who at some point felt it necessary to place the entire country under Martial Law (and I’m not saying there is), what would change?

First, it is improbably that the entire United States could come under Martial Law at the same time, simply because this country is way too big for that.  However, if it could happen, the first thing to go (or be set aside) would be the U.S. Constitution.

Usually, Martial Law is put into place when civil authorities can no longer maintain control of an area that they govern.  Because of this, normally the military takes over, issuing edicts and orders that are designed to restore order.  Once Martial Law is implemented, it can remain in place indefinitely.

Martial Law can be put into effect because of tremendous natural disasters, mob rioting, a stock market crash, loss of electricity over large areas of the population, a biological attack or other act of war perpetrated against this nation; anything that causes mass chaos or confusion.

What would this mean for the average citizen under Martial Law?  Normally, your rights would be negatively affected.  The situation becomes government by decree, otherwise known as executive orders.  Whoever is in charge when Martial Law takes effect literally becomes a dictator because in most cases, that individual would have nearly absolute power for the duration, until Martial Law is rescinded.

In a country as large as the United States, it would take a lot to declare Martial Law for the entire country and as stated, it would be difficult to enforce throughout all areas of the country.  Beyond this, it is also likely that many people would simply not roll over and play dead (by that it is meant, that they would not simply go blindly along with the newly established order).

Could something like Martial Law take place in the United States?  I suppose if there were circumstances that forced it.  If there was an attack on part of this nation, or if race riots occurred and got completely out of control.  However the situation might be caused, certainly, it is not difficult to imagine what part of this nation would look like under the extreme constraints of imposed Martial Law.

Once the established rule of law (the U.S. Constitution) is set aside, the new rule of law would be whatever comes down from the top and from whomever is at the top.  This would most likely be the individual who is the sitting president at the time.

As difficult as it may be for us to believe that Martial Law could be placed into effect over all, or even part of the United States, what might be even more difficult to imagine is a world in which Martial Law is the rule of law.  In such a case, we are actually talking about Absolute Imperialism and according to Revelation 13:17, that’s exactly what happens in the future.

Not long after the Antichrist waltzes into the newly rebuilt Jewish Temple and sits in the Holy Place declaring himself to be God, this same individual will become so angry with the Jews because of their absolute refusal to worship him, that he will begin to hunt them down to kill them.  You can read about this in the Olivet Discourse of Matthew 24.  However, God will spirit these Jews – His final Remnant – to a safe place (some believe to be the ancient ruins of Petra), where the Antichrist will not be able to get at them.

Once the Antichrist realizes he cannot get the Jews, he will turn his attention to non-Jewish believers – the Gentiles – that cover the earth.  He knows they won’t worship him either.  He will be given the power and authority to take the lives of many authentic Christians.

Martial Law will go into effect because he wants to control all of society, globally.  He wants to make it as difficult as possible for anyone to buy or sell without the mark that represents him in some way, shape, or form.  This is Martial Law the nth degree.  Imagine living in a society where it is impossible to buy or sell without some kind of tattooed mark.  It would be extremely difficult.  It will likely extend to your paycheck as well, whereas you would not even be able to get a job (or you would fired from the one you had) if you do not take the mark.  No job?  No money.  No money?  No buying anything, so the people who refuse to take the mark will be thrown back to the days of the first settlers of this country, those who farmed the land for their own food.

Of course, the reality is that it won’t be easy.  Much of it will be done underground or as out of sight as possible.  I still have a difficult time trying to see the picture of what society looks like with that type of Martial Law in place.  It is very difficult, yet that time is coming.

We’ve all heard of war-torn countries in some third world country or even more currently, the Middle East, where Martial Law has been established.  It is not pretty, because it usually only happens after massive chaos.  It is the attempt by the government to calm things down and re-establish some type of order.

In the case of the coming Antichrist, it will have little to do with calming things down.  Martial Law – or Absolute Imperialism if you prefer – will be put into effect for one purpose and one purpose only: to show the world that the Antichrist is god.  People will either treat him as god, or they will die because they won’t treat him as such.

Even if I had not read the articles on Ulster man’s website about how horrible and ugly the presidential campaign will get over the next fifteen months, it would not have been too hard to figure out, would it?  I mean, let’s face it, we have a sitting president who has an extremely low approval rating.  He is ignoring his own advice by running for a second term, in spite of saying that if he could not fix the economy in three and a half years, he did not deserve another shot at it.  Beyond this, he has spent so much money, that our nation’s debt – you know, that “black cloud” – is so high that most of us cannot even get close to picturing how much money is involved and how long it would take to get out from under that debt (you know, that “black cloud”).

But after being in the Oval Office for close to three and a half years, Mr. Obama has decided that he simply can’t not run again.  Wouldn’t be prudent.  Not gonna happen.  So, he is moving full speed ahead and frankly, I’m not sure that the U.S. public really knows what’s coming, meaning how ugly the campaign is going to get.

It’s obvious that the race card is being and will be played as often as possible.  That’s a given.  However, could that have drastic ramifications for our society as a whole?  Could playing the race card wind up pitting races against one another?  If left unchecked, I think it could, but I could also be wrong.  I’m not a prophet and I’m very glad of that.  I’m simply using the intelligence I have and what I have read to follow it through to its natural conclusions (possibly).

So if race problems start popping up, could they actually spiral out of control?  Again, yes, it is possible.  Then, if race problems become so fever-pitched that they become all out race riots in parts of this country, is it possible that someone in our government would declare Martial Law?  Once again, yes, it is possible.

If Martial Law could effectively be declared over part of even most of this nation, what might happen?  We know that the U.S. Constitution would be set aside.  Actually, as far as some are concerned, that’s not that different from what is happening now in certain respects.  But try to imagine a United States without the constitution.  No Bill of Rights and no 2nd or 10th amendment (or any other amendment.

Oh, another thing.  If Martial Law could be set in place over much of our country, there would be no presidential election in 2012 unless of course, Martial Law was rescinded.  If it was not rescinded, then there would be no election.

I’m certainly not saying this will happen.  I’m simply thinking out loud.  Situations like this are not that far-fetched, given the right circumstances.

Martial Law is never pretty.  We’ve seen countless movies and read many books that have Martial Law as the central plot-line and members of those societies spend the entire movie or book doing what they can to overthrow that Martial Law.  They become the resistance.  It’s weird to think about, isn’t it?

Whether it happens next year or in the next decade, Martial Law for the entire world is coming.  The Antichrist will see to it and as long as you are on his side, you have little to fear.

Think of North Korea.  The dictator over there has his country in an iron grip.  He is the dictator and Martial Law is what he uses to control people.  People are encouraged to rat out their neighbors and only those who live near the capitol are treated with any sort of decency, but again, it’s only as long as they remain loyal to Kim Jong Il, their “dear leader.”  In reality, he is a tyrant who rules with an iron fist and controls the North Korean population with abject fear.

Kim Jong Il can change the laws any time he wants to change them.  He can give orders that must be followed on pain of death.  He can do whatever he wants to do and everyone will go along with it, or else.

Isn’t that ironic in a way?  In North Korea, there is one man who has absolute power and everyone fears him.  Yet, deep down, I’d be willing to bet that most people hate him, but have learned to put on a great show publicly so that they will not be carried away during the night to one of the dreaded prison camps.

One man rules North Korea and even though he could be easily overthrown simply because there are far more people in North Korea who could overcome him, no one does.  Why?  Because no one knows who really loves him and who is only pretends to love him.  As long as that unknown remains, there is little chance of Kim Jong Il being cast out of his role as absolute dictator.

It will be the same and far worse with the Antichrist.  He will have supernatural power and with it will overcome the world.  They will at first follow him like the pied piper, welcoming him into the world as savior of humanity.  By the time his true colors come through, it will be too late for the average person to do anything about him.  Let’s not forget that this same individual will be killed and rise again.  This will seem by many to be the real resurrection and because of it, people will likely come to believe that the Antichrist is beyond the ability to die.  He died once already and rose again.  He is beyond death’s grip (cf. Revelation 13:3).  By the way, I know there is some disagreement over whether or not Antichrist actually dies and comes back to life, or simply appears to die and is resurrected.  I’ve read great arguments from both sides.  However it occurs, it will likely appear very much as though he did die, because if he is simply wounded but recovers, people will not be as impressed as if he actually (or appears to actually) die and rise again.  You can decide for yourself what it means in the passage.

The coming Martial Law will separate true Christians from professing Christians.  Professing Christians during the coming days of the Antichrist will wind up justifying doing what the Antichrist wants (including taking the mark) for this reason or that.  Authentic Christians during that time will no better and will not succumb, preferring death now rather than a few more years on earth and an eternity without Christ.

Mr. Obama Thumbs His Nose at the Law…Once Again Future Sins: Forgiven or Not?

Nelson and Modres, I agree with both of you. The rapture would bring on Martial Law. My aunt reads the Bible on a daily basis. She told me that we will be raptured and won’t even know who is the Antichrist. If we were raptured before the Novemeber 2012 elections the USA obviously would not have a Christian president.

Hi Kim, chances are great that we will be raptured before the Antichrist steps onto the world’s stage. That being said, I believe he’s here now, waiting in the wings for his cue. Once the Rapture occurs, this world will change like never before. It would make sense that martial law would be enacted to bring some semblance of peace to the world because of the tremendous upheaval caused by millions of people disappearing from the earth in the twinkling of an eye. It is difficult to imagine the results of that event as it plays itself out on earth. Some will be happy of course, but the confusion and chaos that follows will be something this world has never yet experienced.

The rapture is the next big event to happen on the earth along with damasicks Syria to be destroyed and no one will be able to live there. Either just before this happens or just after is when the church that believes Jesus Christ is Lord and Savior will be taken off the earth.

This is my opinion, but I believe it is the Rapture itself that will be the trigger for martial law here and everywhere. The Rapture will throw things into pandemonium. I think the Rapture will kick off many of the things in prophecy.

I agree with you, Nelson. While there might be “hot spots” around the world before then, the Rapture will cause untold havoc and chaos.
