Oh California…

It is a bit humorous to me to be out of California and continue to read of chicanery and stupidity that seems to daily occur in the life of the liberal-minded legislature that we call “government” based in Sacramento.

I previously mentioned California’s passage of the DREAM Act and as of this writing, I am not aware of any lawsuits against it, though that could certainly change.  However, on the face of it, it would appear that by and large, the majority of people in California approve of this latest legislation, in which illegal aliens are given the privilege of applying for and receiving financial aid to go to college.  As I stated in my previous post, this is a DREAM act for those who do not pay taxes and those who believe that if the government continues to give things out for free to undeserving groups of people, all will be well.

I also note that in the past six months, there have been a number of new attempts to put into law anti-gun legislation.  The latest is the ban on open carry.  This means that it is now illegal to carry a holstered UNLOADED weapon on your person in California, unless of course you’re in law enforcement.

The rationale behind this law is that people become scared with they see a holstered weapon because they do not know if it is loaded.  Of course, it goes without saying that a holstered weapon may decided to unholster itself and start making clicking sounds by repeatedly squeezing the trigger…

A Democrat lawmaker from Los Angeles came up with this brilliant law because she said that people in California should feel safe and when they see a holstered gun, they become fearful.  You know what?  When I see a gangbanger, I become tense even though I do not see a weapon.  In fact, it is pretty much common knowledge that most gangbangers carry two weapons – concealed and loaded.

But the reasoning is that if I cannot see the weapon, then I will feel safe.  What a bunch of hooey.  So if I dress like a detective and carry a shoulder holster with a gun in it and someone accidentally sees my weapon underneath my jacket, then they should not freak out because I’ve attempted to conceal it and I appear to be a detective?

So now people are not allowed to carry unloaded guns securely confined to a holster in plain sight because someone will freak out.  How asinine is that?  The people who are planning on doing damage with their guns do NOT carry them in plain sight, nor do they bother to obtain a concealed weapons permit.  They simply HIDE them on their person and when the time is ripe, take them out and start shooting.  The idea that someone who carries their gun in plain sight creates a tense situation is ridiculous.  The people who think that obviously believe that guns can and do “go off” without anyone touching them.

Another anti-gun piece of legislation that California’s legislature is trying to pass (for the second time) is the one that calls certain ammunition “handgun” ammunition.  This allows for the legislature to pass a law making it illegal to purchase ammo on the Internet.  In other words, a person would be required to buy the ammo in person and leave a thumbprint while doing so.

The brilliant Democrat who thought this up decided that he wanted to keep ammo out of the hands of the gangbangers.  Good luck with that, as if they buy their ammo at Wal-Mart anyway.  They either buy it from friends or they take what they need.  Even though there are laws against stealing, it hasn’t seemed to stop the spread of thievery yet.

In truth, the above two laws only penalize law-abiding people, as these types of laws always do.  The gangbangers are not about to stop carrying their weapons or obtaining ammo.  I mean, how can you be threatening without a loaded gun?  How can you come across as a gangsta without the “piece” to back you up?  A baseball bat just doesn’t cut it anymore…

I recall living in California and one day went into the Pharmacy to buy Claritin-D for my allergies.  I buy a few boxes a year when my allergies kick up.  Well, wasn’t I surprised when I learned that it was now law that I had to provide my California driver’s license as proof of my I.D. and I had to sign on the dotted line as well for my purchase.  This law was put into effect to keep drug addicts from purchasing this type of over-the-counter drug to feed their habit.  Of course, let’s ignore the fact that many of these people steal this type of drug.  Moreover, what is to stop me from going to one pharmacy, then to another pharmacy, then to another pharmacy?  Nothing.

So once again, the law-abiding citizen is penalized because of the actions of a few.  Has this stopped the flow of drugs?  Uh…no.  In fact, there is good reason to suspect that certain groups within our own government have good reason to keep the illegal drug trade flowing.

Another thing that California has that most states don’t have is the DOJ approved handgun list.  This means that before I could buy a handgun, it had to be on this list.  If it wasn’t on the list, I had no chance to buy it.  It was illegal for me to do so.  Yet, gangbangers, who could care less about this list, got whatever they wanted, including machine-pistols.  Oh well, they probably need them more than I do…

It was funny, but living in California, I wanted to buy an AK-47.  Of course, that was not legal in California.  Now that I do not live in California, I have no interest in owning an AK-47.  I guess it goes back to the Garden…

Because of the liberal-minded lefthead, California is nearly bankrupt and I’ve mentioned that previously.  I do not know how they have continued to stay above water, but they are.  Must have something to do with some fancy bookkeeping.

The laws they are attempting and succeeding at passing have nothing to do with balancing the state budget.  In fact, we would have to go back years and years to find a time when they actually passed a state budget ON TIME.  No, they are more interested in making more laws that remove people’s freedoms, under the guise of “safety for all.”  That’s an absolute joke.

Recently, it was made mandatory that within school texts, teachers are now required to cover the lives of homosexuals in their curriculum.  It’s not enough that people should be highlighted for the advances they have made.  Now, we have to know about their sex life as well.  This is because the global elite has been trying (and succeeding) for years to invert society so that what was the norm is now abnormal and what was abnormal now becomes the norm.

It would seem that the more liberal and lefthead thinking the state is, the more dire the situation.  It amazes me how most Democrats believe that more government is better.  Let’s make it bigger, they say and then raise taxes to pay for it.  The bigger the government, the better it is for all people.  Conservatives want less governmental intrusion, more freedoms and less taxation.  It stands to reason that the smaller government is, the less the need for taxation.  Most Democrats don’t seem to get that though because they are too busy trying to change society into something that resembles Marxism or Socialism.

As for me, I like living in a state that appreciates what’s left of the U.S. Constitution and the Bill of Rights.  I like the idea that if I want a certain gun and I have a clean record (and the necessary funds), I can buy that gun and Uncle Sam is not going to tell me I can’t.

I like to be able to walk into a store to purchase Claritin-D and not have to show my Georgia Driver’s License.  I like freedom.  I like not having to kowtow to the government over the tremendous amount of asinine laws that are on the books.

I like living in a fully conservative state; conservative fiscally as well as ideologically.  I’ve mentioned this before, but I’ll mention it again.  I’m amazed at how well – generally speaking – people get along here.  It doesn’t matter that they are blacks and whites or something else.  People seem to respect one another and it seems that most people are literally color blind.  This was not the case in California at all, because there was too much of the idea that people needed to fight for their particular group or ethnicity, rather than for people as a whole.  People did not come together, so much as they pushed each other apart.

Except for family members living there, it would not bother me if California fell into the ocean.  I see Gov. Brown with his second chance to put the final nail in the coffin in California approving all types of legislation that does nothing to ease the tax burden or get California back on track financially speaking.  When push does come to shove, the only solution to the fiscal problems that state is experiencing will be to raise taxes.  The problem though is that people are actually LEAVING California; people who worked and paid taxes.  On the other hand, more illegals are coming in.  Why?  Because of things like the DREAM Act which is an open invitation to people who are in this country illegally.

It reminds of one very large institution in Sacramento that exists to try to meet the needs of the homeless.  It exists and survives solely on donations it receives from private individuals and companies.  It has showers, lockers, food, free dental care, medical care, and some Veterinarians even donate their time to take care of the homeless people’s pets.  This is really a good thing.

Yet, it is interesting to note that many states are giving one-way bus tickets to their homeless and where do you think they are sending them?  Correct.  They are sending them to Sacramento because of this huge institution that is set up to try to meet the needs of the homeless.

So even though this institution survives on private donations, the need continues to grow.  Beyond this, downtown Sacramento has far more homeless than it knows what to do with and in truth, they cannot do much about them at all.

When Arizona enacted its legislation regarding illegal immigration, many illegals picked up and moved.  Where do you think they moved to?  Correct again, they moved to California because there are many places in California that are very safe places for theses illegals.  San Francisco is one of them and they refuse to turn anyone away who is an illegal and will certainly not turn them over to the authorities.

How much can taxpayers be expected to embrace?  How far can it go before people say “ENOUGH!”?  Look what happens when groups try to do that as in the case of the Tea Party.  They are quickly called racist and accused of wanting to hold America hostage.  Actually, the people who are trying to hold this country hostage are the people who continue to try to take every cent from every taxpayer to support more and more “giveaway” programs for people who aren’t here legally.

Even our Federal gov’t has gotten into the act with their latest decision to look at each illegal on a “case by case” basis.  If they have not committed any crime in THIS country, they will not be deported.  What that means is that they could be a wanted criminal in their own country, or could have committed crimes in this country that have not been proven yet.  When the Federal gov’t creates their own laws that bypass the Constitution, then something is terribly wrong.

The attitude and outlook that has affected California will undoubtedly take over the entire country at some point.  The only saving grace with being in a state that is at this point resolutely conservative is that states like Georgia will be the last to turn.  For that, I’m grateful.

Certainly, our government – both state and Federal – need to be fair to all people, but it has not been that way for the longest time.  The preponderance of the tax burden continues to be placed on the Middle Class, while the poor benefit and the rich escape.  The Middle Class cannot continue to do what it has done and still meet their own needs.

States like California are perfect examples of what happens when the liberal, leftheaded policies take charge.  Illegal aliens are afforded every possible opportunity while legal residents are squeezed that much more.  Even liberals have to come to their senses one day and realize that this cannot continue because they will run out of money.  Oh wait, that day is here, it’s just that the liberals pretend it’s not.

It is a shame the amount of destruction bleeding hearts can visit on a society.  Years ago, people did not want a government handout.  If they were on public services, they tried to get off them as quickly as possible.  Now, it’s a badge of honor.  There is something wrong with that mentality and I place the blame squarely where it belongs: at the feet of the liberal-minded, lefthead, who wrongly believes that by giving away everything to those who have not really earned it, all of society will benefit.  The current state of affairs in California alone disproves their claim.  Where will it go from here?  More of the same…

I do not think that it would be appropriate if we call these illegal aliens “udocumented.” There is a positive correlation between illegal immigration and employment related identity theft. Most victims of this type of identity theft are children, preferably with hispanic surnames, because parents barely check their children’s credit.

Illegal aliens are very uneducated and illiterate. Half of them would be a burden to us because they do not know English (education money). Aside from that they cannot read our laws and so they fail to follow. This also translates into poor working skills and lots of DUI’s. Some of them that do know how the system works tend to get pregnant very often just for the benefits. They also steal our jobs. There are more……………

Overall, I think that we should reduce immigration and treat our legal immigrants better. “Low-immigration, pro-immigrant.”

A friend of mine has an AK47. Whenever he shoots it his shoulder turns red. But the good thing is that he has that for over 40 years and it does not break. He even left it in a locker to rust and it still shoots years later.
Right now, I would not support this act but IF they improve it, they will get my vote.
According to Abraham Lincoln, “a government of the people, by the people, for the people, shall not perish from the earth.” The government here in CA is not “for the people.” And our president is not even “of the people.” What will happen now? All I can do now is pray. God Bless America!

The AK-47 is an amazing weapon. It fires under the most extreme circumstances.

Regarding the DREAM Act, I’ve long thought that if the legislature was willing to grant temporary visas to all undocumented workers (making them documented), the problem in California and other states might be solved. If they had visas, allowing those folks to work and live here temporarily, employers could pay them with checks and taxes would be taken out. It would allow for a legal way to let people stay here.

Yet, the California legislature wanted to give them Driver’s licenses and I.D. cards, etc., but without a temporary visa, those things mean nothing. The thing that bothers most taxpayers is that these people are here illegally, yet often get more benefits than those who are legally here. There has to be a solution that benefits EVERYONE, but I have little faith in California’s legislature, which is one of the reasons we left after 25 or so years.

I would prefer an AR15 over an AK47. It looks much cooler and it does not have as much recoil as an AK. Left-head policies fail. I agree with most of the things you have said except that I think that the DREAM act can be a good thing if they balance it out.
I think that they need to lower the age limit from 16 to 5 years old or 7 years old (the catholic age of reasoning). And take a patriotism test. And require their GPA to be 3.5 or greater. If they passed this test, they might just help America. It looks like a good and humane investment to me. The idea is to help children whose identity is American. Besides, its not the childrens’ fault that they are here, its their parents. I do not want them to feel despair. I also think that they need to balance that with something like better apprehension policies, tighter borders etc.

      Yeah, AR15s are pretty cool:)

Regarding the DREAM Act of California, the big problem is that there was hardly ANY discussion of it prior to its passage. It creates an additional burden for the taxpayer. You make some good points and had the legislature taken the actual time to discuss things like you point out, it may have made for a better bill. Unfortunately, California is not known for their taking the time to dissect and discuss things like this. Of course, when it comes to passing a state budget on time, well they can discuss that until the cows come home and STILL not pass a budget.
