Mr. Obama’s Wedding Ring Revisited

I learned from someone who posted me via one of the social network pages of an article that alleges to debunk the article originally written by World Net Daily (WND.com) with respect to Mr. Obama’s wedding ring.  In the WND article, the author claimed that Mr. Obama’s ring had part of the Shahada engraved on it, which states in Arabic “There is no god by Allah.”

The article seemed thorough enough, so I also blogged about it here.  However, there is another article I recently read because of what was posted on my page that seemingly debunks that claims of WND.  That article can be read here:

This most recent article by the folks at Digital Journal also seems sustainable.  So whose right?  At best, the engravings on Mr. Obama’s ring appear to be snakes, or simply some type of design in script.  It does not appear to be the language of Arabic.

If this is true, then the original article published by WND is incorrect and that makes my article also incorrect.  If I am not correct about this, then I extend my apologies to Mr. Obama and others whom I may have offended.

I have sent an email to the folks at WND, which points out the existence of the new article from Digital Journal.  I’ve asked them whether they have seen that article and if so, what they think of it.  If they have not seen it, then I urged them to read it.  If they still believe that they (WND) are correct in their assessment, then I would like to know why.  If they come to the conclusion that they are wrong, then they should probably print a retraction of some sort.

If I receive a reply from WND, I will post it here.  In the meantime, based on the article from Digital Journal, it looks like there may have been an overreach.

There is enough actual material out there that can be commented on with respect to Mr. Obama and his presidency, that material does not need to be created.  In fact, if this information provided by Digital Journal is the truth and the WND article is not, then it simply makes WND and those who gain information from them, as unreliable.  If the Digital Journal could locate hi-res photos of Mr. Obama’s ring, then why couldn’t WND?

Certainly, if it turns out that Mr. Obama’s ring has no Arabic written on it at all, much less part of the Shahada, I will remove the previous article that was based on the WND article.

It might not be over, so hopefully, the folks at WND will weigh in on the matter.
