Margaret Sanger’s Racism, Pt. 2

April 12, 2013 at 12:44 PM

In part one, we introduced the subject of Margaret Sanger’s racism toward anyone that she did not consider to be up to snuff.  She was an elitist involved with eugenics.  We showed that her racist rants against blacks and others clearly proved that her work with “birth control” was really smoke and mirrors designed to fool blacks especially into forced sterilization so that they could not have children and continue to propagate the black race.

We ended part one with the following quote:

Margaret Sanger aligned herself with the eugenicists whose ideology prevailed in the early 20th century. Eugenicists strongly espoused racial supremacy and ‘purity,’ particularly of the ‘Aryan’ race. Eugenicists hoped to purify the bloodlines and improve the race by encouraging the ‘fit’ to reproduce and the ‘unfit’ to restrict their reproduction. They sought to contain the ‘inferior’ races through segregation, sterilization, birth control and abortion.”[1]

In spite of comments like these about or by Sanger, the Left continues to hold her up as a hero to and among women, though she was firmly committed to the Aryan ideals that Hitler later adopted. Some of the sentiments expressed by Sanger include the following:

[Slavs, Latin, and Hebrew immigrants are] human weeds … a dead weight of human waste … [Blacks, soldiers, and Jews are a] menace to the race.”[2]

Commenting on Australian Aborigines, Sanger noted, “The lower down in the scale of human development we go the less sexual control we find. It is said the aboriginal Australian, the lowest known species of the human family, just a step higher than the chimpanzee in brain development, has so little sexual control that police authority alone prevents him from obtaining sexual satisfaction on the streets. According to one writer, the rapist has just enough brain development to raise him above the animal, but like the animal, when in heat, knows no law except nature, which impels him to procreate, whatever the result.”[3]

Much of the eugenics movement based its polices on one of Margaret Sanger’s books The Pivot of Civilization.  A free, downloadable copy is available at the link below.[4]  Read it to be enlightened.

One author, in describing Sanger’s penchant for doing all she could to reduce the birth of blacks and Hispanics noted how she began to set up shop in those communities.  “As her organization grew, Sanger set up more clinics in the communities of other ‘dysgenic races’—such as Blacks and Hispanics. Sanger turned her attention to ‘Negroes’ in 1929 and opened another clinic in Harlem in 1930. Sanger, ‘in alliance with eugenicists, and through initiatives such as the Negro Project … exploited black stereotypes in order to reduce the fertility of African Americans.’  The all-white staff and the sign identifying the clinic as a ‘research bureau’ raised the suspicions of the black community. They feared that the clinic’s actual goal was to ‘experiment on and sterilize black people’.  Their fears were not unfounded: Sanger once addressed the women’s branch of the Klu Klux Klan in Silver Lake, New Jersey, and received a ‘dozen invitations to speak to similar groups’.  Flynn claims that she was on good terms with other racist organizations.[5]

Unlike what our friend from the Feminists for Choice website believes (as quoted previously), it was not birth control that caused concern.  It was something more reprehensible that caused those within the black communities to stay away.  If Sanger was involved in forced involuntary sterilization of people she did not believe should be allowed to procreate, then she had set herself up as God.  This is what eugenicists do.  Euthanasia is also part and parcel of the eugenics movement.

Realizing there was a problem Sanger did what she could to alleviate suspicions among the black populace.  “Sanger believed the ‘Negro district’ was the ‘headquarters for the criminal element’ and concluded that, as the title of a book by a member of her board proclaimed, The Rising Tide of Color Against White World Supremacy, was a rise that had to be stemmed. To deal with the problem of resistance among the black population, Sanger recruited black doctors, nurses, ministers and social workers ‘in order to gain black patients’ trust’ in order ‘to limit or even erase the black presence in America’.”[6]

Sanger had it all figured out apparently.  She used other blacks who knowingly or unknowingly worked to assuage fears in the black community.  This then allowed them to take advantage of the “birth control” that was being offered through Sanger’s research bureaus.

Yet today, the group she formed – Planned Parenthood – has done whatever possible to hide this true history from the public.  Yes, they’ll admit that eugenics in and of itself is not a good thing (though it is still done), but Sanger was merely a woman of her time.  By no means was Margaret Sanger a racist, they argue.  The actual facts prove differently, but few are interested in actual truth today.

The term ‘eugenics’ was first used in 1883 by Francis Galton, Darwin’s half cousin. In 1871, Darwin authored the racist book The Descent of Man and Selection in Relation to Sex saying that ‘the civilized races of man will almost certainly exterminate, and replace, the savage races throughout the world.’ This followed the principle of ‘survival of the fittest’ coined by Herbert Spencer in 1864 after reading Darwin’s 1959 book, The Origin of the Species by Means of Natural Selection for the Preservation of Favored Races in the Struggle for Life (four years after Arthur Gobineau’s An Essay on the Inequality of the Races). For humans, this principle expressed itself in Social Darwinism.”[7] (emphasis added)

Next time – in part three – we will discuss more of Darwin’s built-in racism that gave rise to political correctness (Cultural Marxism).
