Yes, Things Are Changing Under Trump

Not long ago, I wrote an article called Will Things Really Change Under a Trump Presidency? At the time, I was of the opinion that things would not necessarily change if Trump became the 45th President. At the time, I referenced Mitt Romney, Condoleezza Rice, Rince Priebus, and others in their nearly unanimous condemnation of Trump. It seemed as though at the time, no one was willing to stand with Trump.
However, now that Trump has been sworn in as the 45th president of the United States, things have changed and they have changed quite quickly. What amazes me is how quickly some of the people who were quick to condemn Trump are now in some way supporting him. We’ve seen this from a number of seemingly die-hard anti-Trumpers. Most surprising to me is the fact that Rince Priebus is now President Trump’s Chief of Staff. This was a guy who condemned Trump on several fronts before Trump was elected. In fact, because of Priebus’ actions a few years ago, I became very upset with the GOP and chose to ignore them. Now, Priebus is high up on Trump’s aid list.
On one hand it certainly makes sense to keep your friends close and your enemies closer. Trump is no moron and he is known to be a very good negotiator.
I also said in my previous article that “Trump is largely an unknown quantity politically…” and I actually said more than I thought I had said. What we are learning about Trump is that he does not have a history of politics. He doesn’t act, think, or work like the average politician who is more concerned about getting elected and re-elected. Trump made promises to the American people that he is already making good on. President Obama’s big promise was “change is coming!” and no one really knew what that meant. He also promised to have the most transparent administration ever and that promise quickly went by the wayside. He became more secretive and withholding. Mr. Obama also became very politically correct and because of it, this country suffered and suffered mightily. The only ones who enjoyed it are the depraved (morally bankrupt) souls on the left, who cheer at this country’s erosion and demise.
While I do not believe Christians should be patriots above all things (we are Christians first), we should certainly value the rule of law and support the good things this country stands for. Unfortunately, during the Obama Administration, the rule of law was generally ignored in favor of Marxists ideals that the left was busy foisting on America. Police had their hands tied behind their backs. Governors and mayors felt obligated (or emboldened, depending upon which side of the aisle they were on), to stand still and watch Marxist groups like Black Lives Matter (BLM), and other leftwing groups and organizations tear away at the fabric of American society.
Sanctuary cities took on new life emboldened by the Obama Administration’s refusal to enforce laws that were and remain on the books. The level of criminality seen within protests that occurred from one end of the USA to the other grew in number and ferocity under Obama. It was as if he enjoyed watching America burn.
Now, we have someone in office who is not a seasoned or career politician. He promised to go to work for the American people and he has already begun doing that, much to the chagrin and hatred of bleeding heart leftists. President Trump wants to restore law and order. He has given law enforcement (including ICE), permission to do their jobs.
I watched a video of protesters doing what they do, blocking a city road. Traffic had stopped because of them. They thought they were victorious. Then a SWAT team entered the scene and was clearly not playing around. They took down two or three of the protesters, handcuffed them and hauled them off to jail. Bystanders applauded and thanked the police.
In another video, protesters in one city attempted to burn an American flag while a Fed Ex driver took one of their flags and told them if they didn’t like America, they could leave. As it turns out, several of those protesters were arrested and charged with public burning without a permit. The Fed Ex driver was investigated by Fed Ex and he kept his job. The Constitution guarantees people the right to protest peacefully. This does not include starting fires or blocking traffic, both of which are against the law.
I find it fascinating that Donald Trump is president. While I do not believe that God has prophets today whom He speaks through allowing us to know His plans for the world or various countries (except what we know in God’s Word), it is clearly obvious that God allowed and quite possibly, even designed the fact that Donald Trump has become this nation’s most recent president. Could it be due to all the prayers that Christians have been praying for years? God’s timing is His own.
The Bible teaches that things will go from good to bad and from bad to worse until we get to a point where the Tribulation happens. This final seven-year period represents the last seven years of man’s rule over any portion of God’s Creation. We know that society must become worse and worse in order for this to happen. So why did God allow Donald Trump to become this nation’s 45th president?
If nothing else, Trump so far, brings a respite to the usual shenanigans and criminal behavior of too many politicians in America. Many are Marxists and are willing to sell themselves to the highest bidder. They care only about enriching themselves. Here are just a few verses that speak to this problem that is all too prevalent within the Federal Government including Congress.
- And you shall take no bribe, for a bribe blinds the clear-sighted and subverts the cause of those who are in the right – Exodus 23:8
- Treasures gained by wickedness do not profit, but righteousness delivers from death – Proverbs 10:2
- A bribe is like a magic stone in the eyes of the one who gives it; wherever he turns he prospers – Proverbs 17:8
- The wicked accepts a bribe in secret to pervert the ways of justice – Proverbs 17:23
- To show partiality is not good, but for a piece of bread a man will do wrong – Proverbs 28:21
- For I know how many are your transgressions and how great are your sins— you who afflict the righteous, who take a bribe, and turn aside the needy in the gate – Amos 5:12
- In whose hands are evil devices, and whose right hands are full of bribes – Psalm 26:10
- Who acquit the guilty for a bribe, and deprive the innocent of his right! – Isaiah 5:23
- You shall not pervert justice. You shall not show partiality, and you shall not accept a bribe, for a bribe blinds the eyes of the wise and subverts the cause of the righteous – Deuteronomy 16:19
- For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evils. It is through this craving that some have wandered away from the faith and pierced themselves with many pangs – 1 Timothy 6:10
- And when they had assembled with the elders and taken counsel, they gave a sufficient sum of money to the soldiers and said, “Tell people, ‘His disciples came by night and stole him away while we were asleep.’ And if this comes to the governor’s ears, we will satisfy him and keep you out of trouble.” So they took the money and did as they were directed. And this story has been spread among the Jews to this day – Matthew 28:12-15
- And when they heard it, they were glad and promised to give him money. And he sought an opportunity to betray him – Mark 14:11
There are plenty of other sections of Scripture that highlight the problem of accepting bribes for any purpose. Yet, it exists when people are given some measure of power. Too many are willing to sell themselves to the highest bidder even if it means going against what they have otherwise believed.
Donald Trump does not need to take bribes. He owes an allegiance to no one and seems determined to fulfill his campaign promises to Americans. It shouldn’t surprise anyone that he is doing what he promised he would do. I will admit that I did not expect President Trump to be moving this fast. I did not expect him to move ahead with a wall between America and Mexico’s border. I did not expect him to begin working to gut and replace the so-called Affordable Care Act or to renegotiate NAFTA. I did not expect a number of things but he has surprised me in many ways.
Interestingly enough, there are those on social networks who complain that Trump is busy signing one EO after another, far more than Mr. Obama did. It’s simply not true. Mr. Obama began signing EOs the next day after his inauguration and in the first ten days, had signed eight executive orders. President Trump signed his first executive order the day he was inaugurated and to this date (1/27/2017) has signed just four executive orders. So out of a total of 12 *presidential actions, only four of them were executive orders. But these facts don’t sway the left. They are too depraved and darkened in their thinking to see the truth (cf. Romans 1).
Things are changing in America thanks to President Trump’s willingness to set things right and he has done so by being willing to give government agencies the ability to enforce existing laws on the books. Trump has also done this by easing regulations of Obamacare and he wants to reduce the oppressive actions of the EPA. Furthermore, he wants to seriously vet incoming refugees who seek asylum in the USA. He wants to make America great again. Not sure if this will happen or not, but he is certainly giving it his best effort. The left is doing what they normally do; working against America’s interests.
All Christians must pray for President Trump just as we were to pray for President Obama. It is important to understand that Trump is president because God allowed/designed it. He has done so for His purposes. Regardless of the outcome, the Christian’s main responsibility has not changed. We are called to spread the Gospel to the lost (Matthew 28).
Will President Trump be the best president this country has had in quite a while? Time will tell, but he is certainly starting things off on the correct foot.

Well said: President Trump is a political blank…..in my opinion a big plus. But with a savvy staff and a few good appointments to date, he has made a good start. And as wise statesman Kissinger said, also seconded by you: give him a chance to prove himself. Or in cowboy vernacular: give him enough rope to either hang himself or corral the malicious liberal opposition.
