Prophecies of Daniel 11, Part 3
However, in order for Antiochus II to marry Berenice, he had to divorce his first wife, Laodice. She was not at all happy with that turn of events. This is what the first part of verse six notes. Berenice was given to Antiochus II by Ptolemy II in order to create an alliance. But notice the second sentence in verse six tells us that “she” (Berenice) will not retain her position of power. The messenger speaking to Daniel at this point says “will not” because remember, none of this had happened yet. It was still future from Daniel’s perspective.
Humanity’s Constant Propensity of Being Deceived
Of course, the other downside to skepticism is that people like Randi, due to their unqualified intellectualism, tend not to believe anything that is even remotely supernatural. It’s not as if he is an intentional enemy of it. He just wants proof. Because of that, his area of difficulty will always lie in the area of faith. God says blessed are those who have not seen, yet have believed (John 20:29). For someone like Randi, the ability to believe that which cannot be adequately explained is extremely difficult. Because of that, even seeing is not believing. While Randi does a tremendous service to the social community, rooting out one charlatan after another, his intellectual make-up keeps him from even entering through the door of faith. That tragedy is far worse than learning that someone like Uri Geller or Peter Popoff are potential charlatans.
Since God Exists in the Eternal Present, Does It Matter When He Deals with It?
Whether God fixes things now or in the future makes no difference to God, but only to us. The reality is that He will right all wrongs, but most of them will not be righted until after He returns to this earth, not before. Realizing this, trying to fully understand it, will relieve us of a great deal of frustration. It will also help us reject any acrimonious assault on our character by those who would make us think we haven’t done enough.
We trust God? We work to fulfill the Great Commission? We preach the truth in life and deed? That, my friends, is enough because it is all God asked of us.
Salvation is By Faith; Rewards Gained are by Faith AND Effort
If that is the case, then the thief on the cross was blessed indeed because he never had the opportunity to “lose” his salvation once given (Luke 23) by living longer than that particular day on which he was granted salvation. But what kind of tragic cruelty is this? That God, who grants salvation based on the recipient’s faith in Him, will remove that salvation once a person’s faith wanes? I hear people state that they hope to be found faithful. The entirety of their salvation rests on this wish of theirs. They say they won’t know until they die. The Bible grants us confirmation of our salvation, yet to hear some tell it, we are reliant upon the Ancient Egyptian form of religions where our deeds – good and bad – are weighed and that determines whether or not we were able to keep our salvation! This is absurd. Our deeds – both good and bad – are “weighed” to determine what, if any rewards will be ours, not whether or not we will keep or maintain our salvation. That is God’s department. Read about this in 1 Corinthians 3:10-15 where the believer’s works are judged. The outcome determines what we gain or lose in the next life with respect to rewards and privileges, not whether or not we continue to have salvation.
Is Salvation a Sure Thing or Dependent Upon Us? Part 3
What our friend completely fails to grasp is that the chapter began with a brief parable of the lost sheep, then segued into the lost coin. In both of those brief stories, the emphasis is on the sheep owner and the woman, both of whom went out of their way to search for what was lost. In essence then, we could say that these are examples of Jesus coming to the “lost sheep of the house of Israel” and attempting to win them to Him. Israel has always had an “in” and “out” relationship with God. That cycle continues to this day, yet I do not believe for one moment that just because someone is an orthodox Jew, they are “saved.” Jews need to be saved today the exact same way that everyone else is saved, by grace, through faith, in Christ. I also believe that God will one day take from the nation of Israel a final “remnant” of people who will come to believe in Jesus as Lord, Savior, and Messiah. These will represent the final version of the nation of Israel. Still, the method of salvation is always the same.
Is Salvation a Sure Thing or Dependent Upon Us? Part 1
So what about whether or not a Christian can lose his/her salvation? Is it possible? The short answer for me is no, not from where I sit based on my understanding of God’s Holy Word. We could go back and forth discussing passage after passage of Scripture, literally hitting each other over the head with it (and many do), but unless we are willing to look at overriding principles, we will likely not get any closer to knowing the truth about such an important theology.
What many fail to understand is that salvation is entering into an authentic relationship with Jesus Christ, the King of kings, and God of glory. In order for this to happen, there must first be spiritual transaction that occurs in the life of the new believer.
Why Has Left Always Attacked and Attempted to Dismantle the Family?
Satan must gather all of his resources and put them in one basket so that when the day comes to prove that he will become like the Most High, he will not prevail. In fact, it will take one world from the returning Lord Jesus to vanquish him and there will be not one thing that Satan can do about it.
Satan is a defeated foe (from the cross), yet he continues to maneuver global society toward the day when he will have absolute control. He will use that to try to overcome God Almighty. This is the epitome of ego. Satan so loves himself that he takes everything he can in order to attempt to overcome the God who so loves us that He GAVE so that we might live.
Satan offers nothing but misery and an eternal death, separated from God forever. But that is really beside the point for Satan. His one goal, his mania, everything he is about and strives for is to become like the Most High so that he will be able to overcome God Himself.
Though They Claim to Support Israel, Netanyahu Speech Leaves Dems Angry
Israel will stand. The truth of the matter though is that Israel has never been alone. While Jews who reject Jesus as Messiah go into eternity without the salvation that Jesus provides, God stands with the nation of Israel. It is His land. The Jews – as a group and culture – are His people. Will all of them be saved? No. There is no special dispensation that allows Jews to bypass Jesus and His salvation (something that is falsely taught by numerous pastors today). All have sinned (Jew and Gentile) and have fallen short of God’s glory (cf. Romans 3:23). All need Jesus (both Jew and Gentile).
