Walk thru Revelation: Last Generation Pt 3
I was cruising through a few videos this morning and noticed one person placed a comment something along the lines that Jesus is coming in 2024 and we can know this by looking at the signs. No, we cannot know this at all. When Jesus said no one knows the day or hour (Matthew 24:36), He wasn’t speaking in only terms of the exact day and the exact hour. He was literally saying that we cannot know when He’s going to return and furthermore, we should not even be concerned with it so that it becomes all-consuming. On the other hand, there is a specific crown in store for those who gladly look forward to the return of Jesus (2 Timothy 4:8).
Brief Periods of Rest
Joshua led the Israelites to victory one after another against many kings and nations in the Promised Land. The cycle was interesting. Israel would fight and overcome, then fight and overcome, fight and overcome some more and then rest for a while. There might be a short or long time of no wars for Israel. Then they’d be back at it, fighting another enemy that God tasked them with conquering.
Revelation: Last Generation, Pt 2
In our most recent Sunday evening Bible study class, on Revelation, we went over the way the Bible reveals its truth to us and last night, we picked up where we left off from the last time when we covered the first three Birth Pangs spoken of by our Lord in His Olivet Discourse of Matthew 24. In fact, what is interesting is that I pointed out that it is nearly impossible to stay on top of everything that is happening throughout the world due to the speed with which things tend to change from one day to the next.
Daniel 7 and Revelation 13 Pt 6
So here’s this beast who was very human-like (eyes of a man, mouth, etc.), and these pompous words he speaks will be motivated by his spiritual union with Satan, his spiritual father. Daniel tells us this, then describes what he sees next, this time in the heavens. Thrones were placed and the Ancient of Days (Jehovah God), took His seat. Why does He take His seat? Because He is getting ready to judge. In fact, the entire description of Him reveals that He is dressed for judgment and ready to issue His judgments.
Evil: Present and Rising Pt 1
More than one settler during that time bemoaned the fact that alleged Christian men could be heard uttering the most abhorrent language and blasphemies after drinking to get drunk, losing money at cards and giving more away to prostitutes. I can’t imagine the wretchedness of life then. Most prostitutes had short sad lives and were drug-addled and depressed. Who wouldn’t be considering this was not at all how God wanted humanity to live? Many committed suicide via drug overdoses.
Lack of Stick-to-itiveness
Christians need to develop a very healthy, growing fear of (offending) the Lord, which will provide us with thick skins and foreheads made of diamond, harder than flint (Ezekiel 3:9). That is where I believe it starts as we know from Scripture (Proverbs 1:7). That fear of God doesn’t just happen. It must be coaxed into being and I firmly believe God creates it within us in response to the our desire to have it.
Cancel Culture is Marxism
In fact, the Bible describes a future time in Revelation 13 where it appears that all forms of democracy will be eradicated globally and without the mark of the beast, no one can buy or sell. This is the total absence of freedom because of Marxism; something Satan has used for generations to thwart God’s purposes and destroy humanity. But what is coming will envelope the entire world.
Closing the Circle
This morning, my wife and I made our breakfast as we always do: two fresh eggs from our chickens, half an avocado, two pieces of bacon, goat cheese, spinach leaves and some fruit. As we gave thanks, I was again grateful for the fact that we have food on our table. It’s very important to consider all of the things God has provided and I’ve noticed when I focus too much on what Klaus or his buddies are attempting to do, it can easily sweep all the blessings off the table.
Revelation: Last Generation, Pt 1
Daniel 7:24 above notes that in order to obtain this power and authority or allegiance from these ten kings, Antichrist will “subdue” three of the kings. This word is translated variously “subdue” to “put down” to “humiliate.” The scope of the idea here is that Antichrist will likely uproot from their position somehow or possibly kill three of them to show that he means business and it would be best for the remaining 7 kings to go along with Antichrist ans his demands. This is further corroborated by the fact that he becomes the 8th king (Revelation 17:11).
A Walk thru Revelation: The Churches
So far, we’ve covered the introduction to Revelation and the seven churches, which includes Revelation 1-3. From here, we will actually move to the Olivet Discourse (Matthew 24, Mark 13 and Luke 21), for a few weeks, then move back to Revelation 4. The reason we’ll do that is because there are many things in the Olivet Discourse that Jesus outlines that connect with the last generation and coming Tribulation that will occur throughout the entire world.
