New Video Lesson on Interpreting the Bible Literally
We have begun a series of video lessons on Interpreting the Bible Literally (is Not as Confusing as It Sounds). These are based on our book of the same name, which is ultimately based on the Bible.
We hope to do about two of these per month and should average 15-minutes each…

It’s a Great Day in South Carolina
Rep. John King (D) has a burr under his saddle and it has to do with the greeting that the Republican Govenor of South Carolina wants all state employees to say. Apparently, because of high unemployment and a number of other things, it’s not really a great day in South Carolina, according to John King, so why act like it is, right?
When the news reporter asked Mr. King what people should say when they answered the phone, he responded with “Hello. How may I help you?” Wow, that’s nice, isn’t it? Normally though, in government departments – at least the ones I’ve done business with (though I cannot speak for South Carolina) – I usually get a response like this when I call and someone picks up the phone: “Merchandising Department, this is Pam,” or “Department of Motor Vehicles,” or “You’ve reached the _________ department. I’m either on the phone or away from my desk. Please leave a message including your first AND last name (and please spell your name), your telephone number (please say that twice), and a short message. Please speak slowly and clearly and we will get back with you just as soon as we can.”
And Yet Another Reason to NOT Buy Butterball Turkeys…
This is sad. In fact, it’s tragic. No animal should be treated in such an inhumane way.
I’ve written before about how Butterball decided to change the way they process their turkeys and without telling anyone, opted to put all of their turkeys through the halal-compliant process. Among other things, this includes a special ceremony in which the Muslim cleric (Imam) prays to Allah, facing Mecca.
At any rate, there is now another reason to not buy Butterball turkeys. It has to do with the way the turkeys are allegedly treated by the workers at the turkey plant. The more you see of this type of abuse and cruelty, the more you want to go vegetarian…
Prophecy in the News Article by Gary Stearman
Gary Stearman is a joy to listen to on TV as much as he is a joy to read. He would probably hate being called a “wordsmith,” but that’s what he is and what I appreciate most regarding his articles or his ability at interviewing is how his words just carry you along. It’s almost effortless.
The latest issue of Prophecy in the News magazine arrived and on the cover was the title “The Year of Fear is Here!” with a large “2012” as well. Obviously, this is going to be an interesting year for everyone because of the Mayan so-called prophecies.
Did the Jews Kill Jesus?
Historically speaking, the Jews did not physically kill Jesus. The religious leaders of Israel at that time wanted Jesus killed, but their laws prevented them from carrying out their death wishes, so they brought him before Pilate.
Some Muslim Leaders Reject Mayor Bloomberg’s Inter-Faith Invite
It is interesting to me that too many Muslim leaders, while refusing to condemn acts of terrorism and routinely speak out against terrorism in general, at least some have refused to attend NYC’s Mayor Bloomberg’s inter-faith breakfast. They are upset because it appears to them that their religion is being profiled and have voiced that concern.
“We believe it is unequivocally wrong and fundamentally misguided to invest law enforcement resources in religious or racial profiling, rather than investigating suspicious activity,” it said. “We seek your clear, unambiguous, public support for the rights and privacy of all New Yorkers, including Muslims; and a condemnation of all policies that profile and target communities and community groups solely based on their religion or the color of their skin.”
The Generous Qur’an English Translation
The Generous Qur’an is translated chiefly by Usama Dakdok, who grew up in Egypt with Arabic being his first language. This particular Qur’an was not translated in a vacuum. Usama explains:
“With Arabic as my first language, yet traveling and speaking in the English world, I sought for years to find an accurate English translation of The Generous Qur’an. Many translations have been created in order to “sugar-coat” the Qur’an and to soften its real message.
