Chile’s Earthquake, the Earth’s Axis and Anti-Semitism

It was reported recently that the Chilean earthquake was so catastrophic, that it altered the earth’s axis. In fact, scientists are saying this shift has actually shortened the normal day by 1.26 microseconds[1]. Sure, that does not appear to be a great amount of time, but the fact that any earthquake could have such an effect on earth and its axis actually says a great deal. The fact that earth’s 24-hour period for a day has been altered is immense, in spite of the fact that that amount of time is not noticeable by people.
For years, we’ve had all types of naysayers regarding the End Times. Preterists, Covenant and Reformed Theologians and others have all had one good laugh over the alleged signs of the times. They’ve more than pooh-poohed the idea that the end is really coming.
They’ve pointed to the individuals who have been egotistical enough to put specific times to days, when Scripture clearly warns against that. I always have a good laugh at the rigamarole that Richard Abanes goes through in his book End Times Vision. In it, he defines the first world war as the war of the Spanish Succession and lo and behold, found two historians (both now deceased) who believed it. Let’s ignore the fact that virtually everyone else, sees the war that was labeled World War I, as the actually first world war.
Of course, we remember how many “theologians” today point to the destruction of the Temple and Jerusalem in A.D. 70, by the Roman troops as not only God’s judgment for rejecting Jesus Christ, but also the point at which Jesus apparently returned…spiritually, of course. This is in spite of the fact that that no one saw Him, yet He said that every eye would see Him. I don’t know…who should we believe?
So here we are in 2010, with an increase in the frequency of earthquakes as well as the the ferocity of them. In the past few years, we’ve seen earthquakes, which have destroyed towns, cities and villages. If that was not enough, at least two of these major earthquakes have created tsunamis which have further devastated these same areas. Who can forget the Thailand earthquake/tsunami, which destroyed homes, villages, port towns and took thousands of lives.
Nature has run amok. It is no longer what it used to be. In spite of the dire warnings of Global Warming, we’ve discovered that not only is the earth not heating up, but it’s actually getting colder. Makes you wonder why anyone listened to Al Gore at all. Oh wait, didn’t he invent the Internet? No, that was the military, decades ago.
We are in the midst of the earth’s birth pangs. It is clear because it is happening all around us. The naysayers continue to “naysay,” while those of us who seem to think that prophecy marches on, are still ridiculed and laughed at.
Eschatology is not a science, unfortunately. The only One who has all the answers is God Himself. We are left to study and attempt to put the pieces together the best way that we can. More than anything, what prophecy should do is create a passion for getting the Gospel of Jesus Christ to the lost of this world. In Thailand, the world lost what – over 200,000 people? In Chile, the number is around 1,000 and growing. However, with every day that passes, 150,000 people actually die. They are gone – poof! Were they presented with the Gospel?
Besides the fact that nature is going whacko (as foretold by Jesus Himself in Matthew 24’s Olivet Discourse), there is another aspect of the End Time heating up. It is anti-Semitism. Apparently, in France the incidences of hate crimes toward Jewish people has risen dramatically; over 75% since last year. Interestingly enough, there has also been a tremendous rise in the Muslim population in France as well. Hmmm, wonder if there is a connection?
In England, we have already seen that there is a connection with their increased Muslim population, and more protests, and crime. Of course, this is not to say (or suggest) that ALL Muslims are of the mind that Jihad is the best way to go, or even the only way to go. Many Muslims simply want to live in peace and worship their god. However, there are too many Muslims creating violence where none existed before. This will not stop either, because these people believe that the world must be converted to Islam, and all laws replaced with Shariah.
We are living in interesting times. As I stated in my Blog just before this one, Nephilim demons are creating havoc through human beings. We are seeing Paul’s prophetic utterances come to pass right before our eyes.
In spite of this, many appears to be either blind, asleep or both. No matter. What happens, happens and it happens because God has foreordained it. Authentic Christians need to be spreading the Gospel, not arguing about this aspect of Eschatology or that one.
If you are an individual who believes as Preterists do, that the Lord returned in A.D. 70, good for you. The big question though is are you witnessing? Are you evangelizing the lost? Are you introducing people to Jesus Christ, who is the only Person who can truly save? If not, why not?
Enjoy your Eschatological opinions. No one is saying you can’t have them. However, when those opinions get in the way of the Great Commission, then something is obviously wrong.
I remember speaking with one well known Preterist not long ago. He has a radio station on the ‘Net and has produced a number of books promoting his views. I asked him point blank that when he gets on the radio, why is he spending all of his time talking about Eschatology and completely ignoring the Gospel of Jesus Christ. He did not respond. He simply avoided the question altogether. That says a lot. It says that to him, Eschatology has more weight than anything and evangelizing the lost comes in second, or maybe last place for him.
When we stand before Christ, He will not be asking our view of Eschatology. He will be asking about our concern for the lost and how that concern worked itself out in this life. Too many Christians are sidetracked. We need to get back on track and we need to do it now.

You hit the nail on the head and this is what nags at me often – what am I doing for the Kingdom?
Well said!

What a great post. Thank you for drawing attention to the urgency of our times. It amazes me how many Christians are just going about the business of this world, when the business of God’s Kingdom here on earth is rapidly drawing to a close.
He paid too high a cost, for us to be sitting around doing nothing. May be all be seeking the Spirit’s guidance in these days, and not trying to do it on our own.
