The Way Things Are...

Just finished reading the latest PZ Insider (emailed newsletter from Ray Gano at Prophezine.com), and what is interesting is that so much of what he states (as well as his authors) are the things that the Lord has been bringing to my mind.  I’ve written for Ray before and he also included articles from me in this latest issue.  If you have not signed up for Ray’s newsletter, you should.  I do not say that because I occasionally write for it.  I say that because in so many ways, it reports on the pulse of society throughout the world.

One of the things we have been discussing here recently is the immigration situation.  In President Obama’s recent speech, he more than implied that anyone who does not want to go with his views on “fixing” the illegal immigration situation is racist.  Nice.  Very nice.  I thought this president was going to bridge the gap between the races, but instead he is using incendiary language that no previous president has used (at least, that I can recall).

The immigration problem is a just that – a problem.  It is a problem because of the fact that many illegal immigrants simply put a tremendous burden on America’s overburdened educational system, and health care.  Obama acts as if that is not a problem.  Couple this with the increased crime rate and we have a powder keg ready to blow.  I’m NOT saying that every illegal immigrant who enters this country is a known criminal in Mexico because many are hard-working individuals who want to provide for their families.  However, by virtue of the fact that they come into this country illegal, they BECOME criminals by disregarding the laws of the United States.

Equally unfortunate (as one writer mentioned) is the fact that our own president seems not only willing to set American Constitutional law aside, but does so happily.  I’m guessing he is doing it because he wants to cause further problems with our economy and eventually (if he can swing it), find a way to not only provide amnesty for these people, but a way for them to vote as well.  What better way to deal with the fact that his ratings are so low than by creating instant voters who are grateful that they are now given amnesty and a “voice” in democracy.

Because of the tremendous financial burden that is put into place due to the plethora of illegal immigrants into this country, cities, towns and counties are being forced to cut back.  They do this by cutting back on services to the community, and by laying off police and fire personnel.  Recently, Oakland eliminated 80 police jobs from the roster.  Oakland did that.  Oakland, city of gangs and death.  They do not have the money to continue to pay the officers, so they are gone.

Crime is growing.  “But know this, that in the last days perilous times will come: For men will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, unloving, unforgiving, slanderers, without self-control, brutal, despisers of good, traitors, headstrong, haughty, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, having a form of godliness but denying its power. And from such people turn away!” (2Timothy, 3: 1-5)  The growth of crime is due directly to the way people think.  The way they act, stems directly from the way they think.  If they think they are cool, or “bad,” or a gansta, or tough, they will act that way.  They will become brawlers, proud, cocky, and they will do things that bring them money.  Why?  Because they love themselves.  They are the most important person in their life.  If they have to rob, mug, assault, or kill to have what they want, they will do it.  These individuals are without self-control, brutal, despisers of good and more.  Please reread those descriptors:  without self-control, brutal, despisers of good.  Wow.  They literally HATE whatever is truly good.  They do what they want, when they want, and they could care less how their actions or words offend you or anyone else.  They are deliberately throwing off the “chains” of God’s sovereignty (or at least, they think they are) in order to live their life the way they want to live it.  You and I do not matter to them.  They are so filled with hatred and loathing that good has become bad, and bad is good.  It is completely reversed and so they live from those perspective.  If you get in their way, they will harm and even kill you without a second thought.

It is a FACT that in areas where guns are banned, crime rose unbelievably.  Liberals stupidly believe that by banning handguns for instance, people will be safer.  They also state that even if banning guns saves only ONE life, it’s worth it (sniff).  I would agree, however, what they conveniently ignore is the fact that while one person may have been saved (a child unable to accidentally kill themselves because they got hold of Daddy’s unlocked, loaded gun), many more people were gunned down by marauding gangs of murderers.  This does not matter though.

It is a fact that no criminal ever obtains a handgun legally.  It simply does not happen.  If they are already a criminal, they get their handguns much faster than the law-abiding citizen does, who has to wait 10 days after purchasing it to actually take it home.  I’m not necessarily opposed to that law by the way, however, it does not apply to criminals.  No criminal walks into a gun store, places his money on the counter and then walks out with a gun.  The gun laws only target law-abiding citizens.  What the liberal politicians seem to not realize, or ignore is that by taking the gun out of the hands of the citizen, they are taking away a very real way of defending themselves or their family.

When cities and towns have to lay off police officers, the criminals also become aware of it.  They are not stupid.  They quickly fill in the void, laying claim to what previously, they could not so easily acquire.  Frankly, I would hate to have to kill someone in defense of myself or any member of my family.  If I was given no choice, I would, rather than allow my wife to be raped in front of me, or beaten to death.

A Christian who is being persecuted for his or her faith needs to realize that the situation there is far different than the situation where some thug decides to attack you because you provide an opportunity (and they are likely not to even be aware that you are a Christian if they simply break into your home in the middle of the night).  If you are preaching the gospel, and you are being persecuted, so be it.  If you are walking to a restaurant with your wife and you are accosted by a mugger, give them what they want.  If after you give them what they want, they start eyeing your wife, they do not get to go further.  That is where the line is drawn.

It is easy to refer back to Jesus’ sermons when He says “do not resist evil,” or “turn the other cheek,” etc.  These things are often taken out of context and very few people seem to understand just exactly what He was talking about.  He was speaking mainly to Jews who were under the pressure of the Roman system.  It was common for a Roman soldier to simply grab some guy out of the crowd and demand that he carry his pack.  The person could not refuse under penalty of a good swift kick in the rear, to say the least.  So, the person would pick up and carry the pack for one mile.  That’s all the law required; one mile.  Jesus said “carry it two.”  Why?  For a number of reasons.  First, it put the oneness back onto the Roman soldier who expected you to drop the pack after walking one mile.  Second, it showed mercy to the Roman soldier and gave dignity back to the carrier of the pack.  That person made a decision to carry the pack an EXTRA mile because they wanted to, not because they were forced to do so.

When Jesus said, “turn the other cheek,” the ramifications of that are often missed.  When a Roman soldier hit someone (like a Jew for instance), they did so to demoralize, as well as hurt.  However, they often used their open hand to literally slap another man across the face.  This was an insult.  A man would never hit another man this way.  A man would punch another man, not slap him.  The Roman soldier was saying to that man that he was beneath him (the soldier) and deserved to be treated like an errant woman (sorry gals).  By turning the other cheek, the soldier would be forced to use the BACK of his hand, which made that man the soldier’s equal.  I know, it’s weird, but that’s machismo for you.

None of this has to do with defending yourself against losing your life.  It all had to do with the customs of the day within the Roman Empire.  This is how the Roman soldiers constantly made the Jew feel – like little boys and little girls.  The Jews chafed under that, so Jesus was giving them a way to redefine their role in society without becoming aggressive themselves.

Because of the fact that our president and many within Congress either do not see, or are unwilling to notice that there are so many wrong things occurring in this country that are simply detrimental to society as a whole, crime is going up.  Prices are also going up as you have no doubt noticed.  People’s tempers are becoming shorter.  People are able to buy less today, yet they are supposed to make due with that.  It all adds up to frustration and anger and an inability to think logically.  Because people want no thought of God in their hearts, we see that God is giving them over to their wishes.  He is causing them to have what they want to have – a life without God and without a working conscience.

It is because of God’s choice to give people over to themselves, that we are seeing what we are seeing in society.  In some ways, this should be comforting because we know that prophecy is being fulfilled and it also proves God’s sovereignty is constantly at work.  People are unable to give themselves over to themselves without God doing it.  When God gives them over to themselves, they actually become far less than the average beast of the field.  Consider that animals kill other animals out of instinct.  They do not kill for vengeance, but for sustenance.  They act instinctively in order to survive.

People do not need to act instinctively to survive.  They can simply act the way God intended us to act and things will be fine.  Of course, no one can do that because of our fallen nature, but authentic Christians are actually able to do so (yet not without sin).  People who are not Christians can still do things that are considered to be morally good.  They gain no “points” with God, but they do with society.  Then there are the people who want to cast off every thought and even memory of God.  Those people become worse than wild animals.  They prowl for the purpose of doing evil.  They are living demons, fully under the control of Satan’s minions.  They are fully engulfed in their own concerns.  They are their own god.

This is exactly what society is becoming in these days.  It is happening right in front of our noses and it won’t be stopped unless God chooses to stop it.  If we are at the point just prior to the start of the Tribulation, then it will not stop.  If we have decades before the Tribulation begins, then God could very well bring about change.  I seriously doubt that He is going to do that.  I believe that God is leading society (worldwide) to reject Him in order that this same society will open its arms to the Antichrist.  Things appear to be going at breakneck pace and if we (authentic Christians) are not careful, we will be overtaken by it (not converted TO it, but overwhelmed by it).

Into this mix rises Islam.  Think about the ramifications of this please.  Black men by far outnumber white men and others for being disenfranchised from society.  Often, they believe that if they do not stand up for themselves, no one will.  They struggle to exist, to make something of themselves, and if they are born and/or raised in one of the low-income areas of any of America’s big cities, that usually means hanging with people who have the same need.  How far can crime be behind them?

Islam presents to these men an alternative.  Islam provides family, structure, parents, brothers, organization, and a reason to live.  Unfortunately, these men go from the frying pan into the fire.  The nature of Islam is such that its deception is rarely seen.  The men who are involved in Islam have come out of a life of crime and now have a sense of self-worth.  They dress appropriately, carry themselves well, become educated, and are given a reason to live.  That reason is belief in the fact that Islam will rule the world one day.  There will come a time when Islam will unite all people, or they will be exterminated.

Islam brings many men out of the gutter and into the mosque.  They are taught that all infidels will be killed.  They are taught that Allah is supreme.  They are taught that they should defend Allah at all costs.  They are taught that they have worth as people, as men, as Muslims.  Granted, this does not work for all disenfranchised black men, many of whom continue to find their own path in life, and who find no solace in the speeches of Martin Luther King, Jr., Jesse Jackson or Al Sharpton.

We have a sitting president who is obviously much more aware of, and willing to cater to, Islam and Muslims, than Christians (professing or authentic).  He is more interested in making sure that he can do whatever is possible to dismantle the America that has existed for so long.  He is actually working very hard at it and if you stop to think about it, he is doing so largely be disassociating himself with the foundations of this country.  In other words, President Barack Obama cannot relate to America because he is really not part of America.  Born in Kenya (most likely), he spent years away from American soil.  His awareness of America is based on what he learned from the outside.  His loyalties lie with the religion of his youth, and it is that religion that he is bringing to the fore, any way that he can.

America is not the America of my youth.  In fact, it is not the America that it was up to one to two decades ago.  It has changed drastically.  Obama encourages those changes.  On one hand, it feels very weird to have a sitting president who was probably not born here, yet the media seems to care less.  It feels as though our country has been hijacked by someone who has no right to be president.  Beyond probably not being born here, he has pushed Christianity to the side, pushing Islam instead.

Because of the tone set by this president, it is clear to leaders of other countries that it is very likely that Obama would throw America under the bus if he could.  He has no loyalty for America and many are seeing it, including illegal aliens (“visiting immigrants” as he calls them).  This and the fact that he seems to want to spend a ton of money OUTSIDE our countries borders means that the problems within our borders remain and even get worse.  Crime is merely one aspect of things that will continue to spiral out of control.  In essence, this administration is deliberately putting America and Americans at risk of becoming victims.

It seems all doom and gloom, doesn’t it?  Yet, when we read Scripture – Daniel, Ezekiel, Revelation – it IS gloom and doom, from man’s perspective, but NOT from God’s.  Certainly not for the authentic Christian.  We obviously live in terrible times as Paul stated centuries ago to Timothy.  These are terrible times, but these times are merely bringing us to the brink of man’s last gasp, before Jesus returns to lay hold of that for which He died.  The book of Revelation starting in chapter 5 shows us the inimitable, victorious, worthy Lamb that was slain.  He is found to be worthy to open the scroll.  He does so, and step by step, hell breaks forth onto the earth.  From the very first seal, to the last trumpet, to the last bowl, God’s wrath is poured out on humanity and on the earth.  It is not Antichrist’s wrath.  It is not Satan’s wrath.  It is not man’s wrath against man.  It is God’s wrath that CAUSES man’s desire to kill other men.  It is the Lamb’s entrenched anger that brings about the Antichrist and his terrible rule.  God has every step of the Tribulation under His complete sovereign control, just as He has had every moment of every day under His control.

Things are going to get rough before the Tribulation begins.  We need to be aware of that and we need to do what we can to prepare for it.  If it means, storing up dry goods, emergency supplies, water, etc., then we should do that.  If it means growing our own vegetables, then we should.  If it means lightening our loads by selling off all the junk in our garage(s), then we should do it.  We need to take practical steps to help ourselves so that when things get really bad before the Tribulation and before the Lord takes His Bride home, we will not be out on the street starving, at the mercy of our government.

We cannot sit there and think, “God will provide.”  Yes, He will to an extent, but He does not go out and physically buy your groceries, does He?  What if you lose your job?  Of course God knew about that, but why haven’t you planned for that possibility?

The difficulty is that there are dark days ahead, yet we know there is Light at the end.  We simply do not know how long it will be dark until the Tribulation begins.  We cannot count on Him taking us out of here at a certain day or time.  We do not know.  The only thing we know is that it will get bad, and worse.  We need to be prepared.  It may be that in our preparedness, God will open doors to witness to friends and neighbors as never before.  Consider it.  While you’re at it, check out Ray Gano’s Web site: http://www.prophezine.com
