Should Christians Vote in this Next Election?

September 20, 2012 at 7:08 AM 10 comments

There is an awful lot of rhetoric and division out there these days with one camp claiming that in this upcoming election, voting for either individual is a vote for the enemy of our souls.  They liken Romney to Obama because they see them both as being godless, at least as far as evangelical Christianity is concerned.  To that extent, they are right, in my opinion.  Neither of them is what I would call an authentic Christian.  Certainly, I do not know their hearts, but I am basing my opinion solely based on what they say and what they do.

While Mr. Obama has stated on numerous occasions that he is a Christian, it would appear from his words and his actions that he is anything but a Christian and in fact, he plainly acts far more like a Muslim than a Christian.  I have spent time discussing why I think he is a Muslim and I have even quoted a gentleman who grew up in Egypt around Muslims, but is a true Christian himself.  He has no qualms in listing Mr. Obama as a Muslim and lists no less than ELEVEN solid reasons why – according to the Muslim faith and the Qur’an – Mr. Obama IS a Muslim.  You can read about those reasons at the following link:

http://thestraightway.org/obama.asp

While some might suggest that the reasons are “circumstantial,” an honest appraisal of those reasons would actually preclude such a conclusion.  Remember, the individual providing that list grew up and lived around Muslims most of his life.  Beyond all of this, I think it is important to understand how Muslims throughout the world see Mr. Obama.  They see him as one of them; an individual who is Muslim himself.  They have no qualms about labeling him and accepting him as Muslim.  Yes, there are some extreme radical Muslims who have stated that they want him dead (God forbid!), but I believe that is due solely to the fact that Mr. Obama is not as radicalized as they want him to be.  In fact, it is not unheard of for extreme radical Muslims to kill other Muslims simply because those Muslims are not as extreme as some believe they should be.

So, we have Mr. Obama whom many believe to be Muslim, myself included.  That is cause for fear among many within the United States because we understand what radical Muslims are capable of doing.  We see it on a near-daily basis.  We see how readily Mr. Obama equates with Muslim leaders and has even invited the newly installed president of Egypt – Morsi – to the White House.  Morsi is the Muslim Brotherhood pick for that position.  In fact, there is good evidence that more than suggests that Mr. Obama’s administration is filled with people who are directly or indirectly connected with the Muslim Brotherhood.  There are many Muslims in high level positions in Mr. Obama’s administration and that is cause for concern.  Of course, the Left comes along and accuses people who think like this as being bigoted in their approach.  Unfortunately, much research has been done and it is clear that at the very least, the Left’s agenda is being widely disseminated throughout the Obama administration and with the direct and indirect connections to the Muslim Brotherhood, it is clear that nothing good can come out of it, especially for those who are conservative in nature and in thinking.

Regarding Mitt Romney, we have a gentleman who is Mormon and doesn’t deny it.  Though he has stated that his Mormonism does not define him, it has become a lightning rod for many people who are eligible to vote.  While Mormons try to pass themselves off as Christians, authentic Christians know that this cannot be the case.  Mormonism is not a denomination with Christendom.  It is a sect or a cult.  The average Mormon’s view of God is uniquely different from that of orthodox Christianity.  Mormons believe that Jesus and Lucifer are brothers and when Lucifer’s proffered plan for earth was rejected by the Council, in favor of Jesus’ plan, Lucifer fell and became Satan.  For the Mormon, both Jesus and Lucifer are created beings.  For the orthodox Christian, Jesus was and remains God, the Creator.

So, we have two candidates who – for many – are anathema.  I believe Romney is more conservative than Obama, but they are both left of center.  Because of this, it is another election in which it becomes a vote for the lesser of two evils.

Christians go back and forth believing that to vote for either candidate is to vote for the devil.  So, many are simply opting out of the process altogether.  Unfortunately, what they fail to recognize is that by not voting at all, should Mr. Obama become re-elected, their lack of vote will have a hand in making that happen.

How can I say that?  Well, as citizens of the United States who are of voting age and who meet all the requirements to cast a vote, we have an obligation to do what we can to make changes to our country that bring glory to God.  By not voting, we withdraw from that process, yet since we still pay taxes and live and work within the confines of America, all we have really wound up doing is abdicated our duty.

Does a vote for Romney mean a vote for the devil?  There are those who believe that by voting for Romney, there will be such a push for Mormonism that many will convert to it.  Did this happen when JFK became president?  Was there a huge uptick in converts to Roman Catholicism?

If we – as Christians – live and work in the United States and are eligible to vote, I believe we have an obligation to do so.  In the latest issue of Israel My Glory, there is an editorial titled “Christians and the Right to Vote.”  In part, it states that we are to render unto Caesar, which is another way of Jesus pointing out that we have an obligation to our secular government.

The United States is not (yet) a dictatorship.  It is a government for the people and by the people.  Because of this, I believe we have an obligation not merely to pay taxes, but to be involved in the process.

The editorial goes on to say, “Romans 13 specifically instructs believers on their responsibilities to secular powers ‘appointed by God’ (v.1)

In the upcoming election, we have two choices.  Too many believe that voting for either is a vote for the devil.  However, if we separate out from the equation each candidate’s religious views, then we are left with their political views. So, setting aside for instance, the belief that Mr. Obama is indeed a Muslim, what do we know about the man?  We know that he is very Left in his thinking and we know that he has promised to go even further Left if re-elected.

We have seen where his leftwing policies have gotten us so far.  It is clear that at the very least, he is interested in recreating America so that it more in line with a Socialist type of government than what it is now:  a Constitutional Republic.  Consider that not too many decades ago, communism and communists were anathema.  Joseph McCarthy is known for finding them and outing them.  The cold war was a war in which no shots were fired, but spies were constantly trying to be one step ahead of the communists that were believed to have infiltrated aspects of America’s government.

Now, in 2012, Socialism doesn’t seem to be that bad to many.  Why?  Because of skyrocketed unemployment.  People are without therefore they look to the government to provide.  That is not why the Federal gov’t exists, but you cannot tell that to these people, many of whom are so used to government handouts that they become self-righteous when they learn that their continued handout might be in jeopardy.

It is clear that this country is moving toward a new rule of law, one in which Socialism guides the way things are done.  We have a man in the Oval Office who has stated publicly that he is in favor of redistribution (though I seriously doubt that he would be willing to add his own personal fortune to the pile of money that he would like to see redistributed).  To me, this is not a good thing at all because it all falls onto the Middle Class to support those who either do not want to better themselves or cannot.  As Dennis Miller has stated, I don’t mind helping the helpless, but I really don’t care anymore about the clueless (my paraphrase).

So that’s one candidate.  The other is Romney who leans toward the conservative, but again, is still left of center.  He is obviously more patriotic when it comes to our country.  He appears to want to actually create jobs and reduce the deficit.  Will he stand with Mormons as Mr. Obama has obviously stood with Muslims?  I don’t know, but I tend to think that the hallmark of a Romney presidency will not be measured by how many Mormons he has working for him in his administration or how many privileges are given to Mormons.  My sense is that under a Romney presidency, he will do what he can to right the financial wrongs in this country.  He will try hard to restore balance to our economy while also bringing respect to America back to the White House.  Currently, the world laughs at the United States in many sectors because of all the apologies this administration has made on behalf of this terrorist or that offense toward Muslims.  Most recently we are aware that Mr. Obama came out literally in defense of Islam by nearly directing YouTube to remove a short movie that allegedly was the source of protests within the Islamic world.  Instead of condemning their actions, he chose to speak out against Freedom of Speech.  Such is the way Mr. Obama thinks when it comes solely to Islam.  He has no such concern for Christianity, or Judaism.

Will Romney do the same type of thing?  I don’t see it, but of course, I could be wrong on that score.  I believe his primary motivation will be for this country, not for Mormonism.  With respect to Mr. Obama, it seems that everything he does, he does with an eye on placating Islam.  Yet, he is the president of the United States of America, not the United States of Islam.

So, should Christians vote in the next election?  Absolutely.  If we are eligible to vote, we should vote.  Let’s face it, there will likely be plenty of people who are not eligible who will still manage to cast a vote and we know who for whom they will be voting.

If I look back over the past five or six elections, I realize that in many ways, they have all been voting for the “lesser of two evils.”  Christians make themselves feel better by saying that Bush comes from a Christian family.  Why?  Because he’s from the Bible belt and associated with Methodism, a Christian denomination.  Mr. Bush says he became a born again Christian after a discussion with Billy Graham.  This makes at least some Christians feel better about supporting him as candidate.  But was he a better candidate?  That’s debatable.

I like what the editorial states in Israel My Glory.  “Politicians may inspire, disappoint, or make promises they have no power or intent to deliver.  But in the end, good or bad, that fact is beside the point.  We have the ultimate weapon in the arsenal of the free:  the right to vote.”

If you choose to note vote in this next election, then you can sit back and declare that you had nothing to do with it and the candidate who won did not win because of you.  I disagree.  If you have the opportunity to keeping evil out of someplace and you do nothing, you are just as culpable as if you opened the door for that evil.  Do not kid yourself.  Because you can vote but do not, does not absolve your responsibility.  At the same time, by writing in someone’s name that you prefer who is not actually on the ballot, you accomplish the same thing as if you were not voting.

Yes, this next election is a tough call, but if we think in terms of who is more conservative (not who is more of a Christian), the answer should be obvious.

I think voting for anyone on the federal level wont change the course of this country. The country from it’s birth was built on masonry and this masonic lineage will continue even after the death of this country. Voting for a masonic president to serve the people wont benefit us because their loyalty is to Satan and themselves. They’ll never serve the people because if they were to serve the people they wouldn’t have even been allowed to be a presidential nominee.

I agree. Funny how many Americans I come across completely disagree with me. I’ve even been called “unAmerican” for my views and people have questioned my Christianity over it.

I still say though because Romney is not as “left” as Mr. Obama, things will slow down at least for a bit. Ultimately, we will likely get to the same place but in a different way.

I’ve lost Facebook friends over my stance, and I’ve even gotten into it with my husband, who called my stance a “vote for Obama.” Unlike me, he’s not very political, so he doesn’t see things the same way I do. I’ve shown him WHY I believe the way I do, based on things Romney has said and/or done, as well as my own belief that our electoral system has been hijacked to produce whatever results those in REAL power want them to be. I know how “black helicopter” this sounds, but I truly believe that things are no longer in the people’s power, and haven’t been for quite some time. Beyond that, I know what my Bible says, and I believe that prophecy is coming true every single day. That said, CAN we really turn things all around? I don’t think we can, because it would require an entire WORLD turning back to God. We can’t even get our own nation on board. There’s no way we can do this world-wide. So all I can do is prepare myself the best way I can for the return of the Lord.

I agree. Ultimately, the world is on a direct path toward judgment. It will happen and the only good thing that will come out of it are more people who turn to Him for salvation.

I will vote, but I cannot, in good conscience, vote for either Obama OR Romney. I don’t say this lightly. I, too, have been scared by what is happening to this country, but I also believe that not much will change under Romney. His very words and actions belie the claim that he is for America. Many of his stances prove he will NOT uphold the Constitution — primarily his stance on gun rights and his support of the NDAA, arguably THE most unConstitutional piece of trash to come down the pike in this nation’s history. True, we won’t have a muslim in office, but we will STILL have a socialist in Romney, something that is anathema to a vibrant, free America

Choosing the lesser of two evils is STILL choosing evil. I’ve prayed long and hard over this election and what I should do. I was almost scared enough to say, “Okay, I’ll go for the lesser of two evils and vote for Romney.” However, I was shown in my spirit that these men, bought and paid for by the same entities (banksters), will bring about the demise of this nation equally — maybe by different means, but the result will be the same. But sitting out of this election will also not be an option. My ancestors fought and died for my right to vote. So, for that reason, I will vote third party. Many will call that throwing my vote away, but in reality, it is me exerting my right to vote, while also saying I will no longer play the elitists games anymore. Just like Billy Hayes in Midnight Express, I shall be a bad machine and go against the grain that has been set in motion by people hell bent on our destruction. THAT will be my final stance against evil.

Obviously, you need to do what you believe you should do. The problem of course – any way you slice it – is that your vote will not stand against evil so much as it will indirectly be a vote for Mr. Obama should he win.

As I’ve said before, I believe Obama and Romney are BOTH left of center, with Romney closer to center than Obama. With Romney, things might slow down with respect to their progression toward a more evil, secular, socialist society. He has also promised to repeal Obamacare, which if left in place, will surely bring this nation to its knees economically sooner, than later.

With the many that intend to vote for Ron Paul, it reminds me of the time when when Ross Perot threw his hat into the ring in 1992. All he effectively did was to pull votes AWAY from Bush and give them to Clinton, though Perot did not gain any electoral votes.

If you don’t think that the global elite knows how to play that game, then you may wish to think again.

In the end of course, you have to vote your conscience and in the final analysis, God is the One who places people in leadership and deposes them.

No, in actuality, Romney said he would repeal and *replace* Obamacare. Even so, we watch these guys promise stuff all the time. Obama promised to close Gitmo and to get us out of the two wars we were in. He not only didn’t close Gitmo, he got us into two more wars and kept us in the two we were already in. I no longer put my faith in man’s promises. Instead, I look at their past history and pay attention to what they’ve said and done. And in doing so, I see that Romney is barely better than Obama.

But, like you, I have to remember that God is in control and realize that, no matter how I vote, the momentum towards His will is already in the works. I don’t see my choice as a vote thrown away as much as it is a vote against the establishment. And for the record, I may not even vote for Paul. I may vote Johnson, as he will be a true third party candidate.

Funny how people do not realize that Mr. Obama got us into two more wars. Of course, it helps that he conveniently called them “kinetic military actions” and the press went along with him.

As far as the press is concerned, Mr. Obama can do no wrong and even though Romney is ALSO left of center, he apparently, can do no right.

As for this country being a republic, well I think it has been moving toward an empire since FDR and it has been moving in that direction since Wilson!

It would surprise many who read this website that many Mormons hold governmental positions already! Please VOTE! At least for the lower positions of government that effect us all in our state and local governing bodies. Also for the senate and congress seats. We still have a voice even if it’s in a socialist democracy. Pray earnestly for our leaders and for God’s will.

I think you’re right, regarding FDR. I just found out last night while watching a documentary that FDR forced everyone to turn in all of their gold and made it illegal for any person to have gold any longer. They were to turn it in and would be paid at the going rate for gold which was about $21/ounce at the time. FDR did this to jump start the economy after the Great Depression. Once the Federal gov’t owned all of the gold in the U.S., FDR then signed on order to effectively double the value of that gold which made a tremendous profit for the Federal gov’t.

No, I wouldn’t be surprised about the number of Mormons who hold gov’t positions. My point was that these folks are not trying to undermine our Constitutional Republic as the Muslim Brotherhood and Socialists want to do.

I agree – we need to vote even if its for the lesser of two evils. Those are the choices and God’s will is going to be accomplished. We need to do our part to retain our voice. Not voting is giving up our rights.
