Christians Need to be in Prayer

With the deadly storm called Hurricane Sandy fast approaching land near the northern part of the East Coast, Christians need to be in concerted prayer for the safety of people who will be affected.
I have been asking God to reduce the damage and terrible effects of this looming storm so that people’s lives will be saved and physical damage to buildings and the like will be minimal. There is a lot at stake here folks, as I’m sure you realize. Most of it has to do with the people who are directly in harm’s way. May God watch over them as this storm bears down on parts of the East Coast of America.
Please lift up these people in those areas so that their lives will not only be spared, but they themselves will not suffer loss. I pray that they have taken the time to do what they can to prepare for the massive deluge that meteorologists are warning will take place unless God’s hand moves that storm back out to see or cripples it altogether.
I hate the thought of people dying into eternity who may not know Him as Savior and Lord. Moreover, even those who know Him and may die because of the fierceness of this storm will leave loved ones behind who will spend much time grieving and trying to put their lives back together.
Please pray that God, in His loving grace and mercy, will provide protection to people and even inexplicably reduce the size and ferocity of this coming storm!
Christians, we need to be people of action and one of the best ways we can help in this crisis is through our prayer efforts. If you are in a position and locality where you can help that does not endanger you, then you can help. But the best way to be a “hero” is by petitioning the Lord and asking that He might intervene in this growing situation so that lies will not be lost and damage will be minimal.
We already know that over 60 people have lost their lives in the Caribbean and we also know that even though the hurricane has not yet officially hit land, damage has been done. Roads are out, trees are down and buildings have been damaged or destroyed.
Let’s all join together in prayer that God would prevent the massive deaths and destruction that we are being told will very likely happen. God loves this world so much that He gave His Son in order that we might live through the salvation He provides. If He loves the world that much that He is willing to offer Jesus Christ, the Second Person of the Godhead, then surely He will hear our prayers in reducing the terrible and tragic effects of this looming storm.

These events are never good but always kickstart The Church into action. Christians are at their best when things are at their worst. I like to call the post dramatic/traumatic energy that we get as ‘The Christian Hustle’. We pick it up a notch and get things done! No formal process, no paperwork, just ‘get er done’.

Thanks for your timely reminder about what we should do as Christians. Though I am out of work, I feel my situation is much bearable than the sudden destruction and terror that comes because of this hurricane. I pray and believe God will intervene and make the situation bearable for those who are caught up by the storm. In all things, give thanks to God. Amen
