Christians: Are We REALLY Getting It?

December 7, 2012 at 1:51 PM

It is not difficult to see the increasing venality of this world. The fact that so many of us see what appears to be absolute corruption in our government is not happy news either.  So what do we do with that information or knowledge?  Do we throw up our hands in despair and say that, for the most part, it’s essentially over?

I firmly believe that it is too late to change our government because of the grip that not only the global elite, but ultimately the spiritual forces that motivate them have on the government of the United States.  I’ve written about that and if you’ve read with any consistency my articles here, that won’t come as a shock to you.

I have stated that though we cannot necessarily do anything about our the corruption of our government, we can gain release from being in fear of our government.  The more we know, the freer we become and that is a great feeling.

However, the question then becomes, what do we do with our freedom from the emotional tyranny that our government is creating throughout American society?  Do we “go off the grid”?  Do we build a bunker, supply it with food, water, and other supplies pull a Blast from the Past, in which Christopher Walken’s character locks himself, his wife, and their son into their fortified home that literally becomes an impregnable fallout shelter because of some wrongly perceived nuclear threat?

The answer is obviously no, that’s not what we do.  God does not want or expect us to hide from society.  If that was the case, the Rapture would have already taken place, but as far as I know, it hasn’t happened yet.  Certainly, taking precautions like creating a pantry or storehouse for extra food, water, and other supplies can be kept for the difficult times ahead is a wise thing to do.

I hear a lot of people talking about the fact that God is beginning to judge the nations.  I read from others that Damascus is about to be turned into dust.  I myself have written about the possibility of the Gog/Magog War of Ezekiel 38-39 happening in the not-too-distant-future.  If it is true that we are seeing some of end times prophecy unfold – or get ready to – then it stands to reason that things look as though they are gearing up for the final showdown; something we call the Tribulation.

During that time, God will roll up His sleeves and go mano-a-mano with the nation of Israel and He will use various nations and ultimately the Antichrist himself to purge rebels from Israel.  In doing so, God will take for Himself a final Remnant; a Remnant that will go into the Millennial Kingdom created by the return of Jesus and there, these Jews will finally inherit all of the Land that God originally promised to them through Abram, starting in Genesis 12.

God will also begin His judgment on the nations during this same time period, but it won’t be until the end of the Tribulation – after Jesus returns – that Jesus will finally judge each and every nation in what is known as the Parable of the Sheep and the Goats (cf. Matthew 25:31-46).  However, what is most fascinating to me during the entire time leading up to and including the Tribulation period is the fact that multitudes of people will come to know Jesus as Lord and Savior!  This is not only an amazing fact, but it is one that brings honor, blessing, and glory to God!  This is the reality of judgment that often appears in the form of persecution of His saints because of the terrible times in society.

As the world sees the Christian and how they are faring under the weight of severe problems in society, the people of the world will mock, ridicule, and laugh.  However, many of them will see a reality in authentic Christians that causes them to wonder.  That wonder causes them to ask questions.  Those questions often lead them to salvation.

I believe with all my heart that more people are saved during difficult times of trouble and persecution than during times of peace.  This is not something the global elite can wrap their brains around.  They use war and rumors of war to facilitate their goals, but in doing so, what they fail to see is that the potential of wars and societal upheaval often bring people to their knees and they gain from God what becomes eternally theirs: salvation.

To me, it is a two-pronged problem.  During the Tribulation, the terror will be tremendous.  God will pour out His wrath on this world as I believe He is gearing up to do now.  His goal of course is to turn the people – including the rulers – to Him in repentance so that they can have what?  A restored country or nation?  A greater ability to rule?  Peace and safety?  Removal of all fear?

God’s primary reason for sending His judgment in the form of terrible times where evil seems to reign supreme and unchecked is so that people will come to the point of kneeling before Him in true worship.  They will only do this when they see their need for His salvation.

In Revelation 6, beginning with verse 12, we read about what is called the Sixth Seal.  When the Sixth Seal is opened, we learn that “there was a great earthquake; and the sun became black as sackcloth made of hair, and the whole moon became like blood; 13 and the stars of the sky fell to the earth, as a fig tree casts its unripe figs when shaken by a great wind. 14 The sky was split apart like a scroll when it is rolled up, and every mountain and island were moved out of their places.”

Here is what occurred when the Sixth Seal opens up and this portion of God’s wrath is poured out onto the earth.

  • a great earthquake
  • the sun becomes black
  • the moon becomes like blood
  • stars fall from the sky
  • the sky literally opens up
  • every mountain and island are moved

Do you think that would be scary?  Do you think people will notice?  Here is how the people react to these events.  “Then the kings of the earth and the great men and the commanders and the rich and the strong and every slave and free man hid themselves in the caves and among the rocks of the mountains; 16 and they said to the mountains and to the rocks, ‘Fall on us and hide us from the presence of Him who sits on the throne, and from the wrath of the Lamb; 17 for the great day of their wrath has come, and who is able to stand’?

It’s safe to say that the people will be totally freaked when these things occur.  In fact, they not only try to hide themselves in caves, but they want the rocks to close them in!  It’s also very clear that they understand that it is God Himself who is causing these things to happen.  They even admit that it is God’s wrath and they know that they will not be able to stand in His presence, so it’s best just to be completely out of sight, as if anyone can truly hide from God.

Just prior to the Sixth Seal being broken open, the same chapter of Revelation tells us of the Fifth Seal; its contents and the world’s reaction.  “When the Lamb broke the fifth seal, I saw underneath the altar the souls of those who had been slain because of the word of God, and because of the testimony which they had maintained; 10 and they cried out with a loud voice, saying, ‘How long, O Lord, holy and true, will You refrain from judging and avenging our blood on those who dwell on the earth?’ 11 And there was given to each of them a white robe; and they were told that they should rest for a little while longer, until the number of their fellow servants and their brethren who were to be killed even as they had been, would be completed also.”

Look at the above text closely.  The Fifth Seal creates a situation on earth where an untold number of individuals will be martyred because of their faith in God and because they have His salvation.  Notice also that these martyrs turn to God and ask Him basically how much longer will they need to wait before He fully judges and avenges their blood?

Notice God’s answer.  He essentially tells them to be patient for a while longer until the full number of their brothers/sisters is completed; those who were yet to be killed.  In other words, there were more martyrs to come.

If we jump ahead to the next chapter of Revelation – chapter 7 – we learn that John the apostle sees such a great multitude of believers coming out of the Tribulation that he indicates that it was impossible to number.  “After these things I looked, and behold, a great multitude which no one could count, from every nation and all tribes and peoples and tongues, standing before the throne and before the Lamb, clothed in white robes, and palm branches were in their hands…” (Revelation 7:9).

When I read Revelation and other portions of the Scriptures that deal with the Tribulation and the time just prior to the physical return of Jesus, I see a situation in which God is concerned about changing people’s hearts.  He is not seemingly concerned about nations regarding salvation.  Why?  Because nations – apart from Israel – cannot be saved.  Israel is the only nation that God sees as a whole, or a unit.

I am well aware that there are people who believe the founders of the United States entered into some type of covenant with God and that is why He blessed us.  I believe rather that God blessed this nation simply and solely because much of our government, including most of our laws, are based on biblical principles.

Yes, our nation has consistently moved itself away from being tethered to those principles and that began happening not long after we were founded.  Go back through our history and learn when outside forces began to chip away at the things America stood for and it won’t be long before you realize that over the decades since this nation’s birth, little by little, this group there, that person over there, that other group there throughout the years, has done something that has made another part of the biblical principles upon which this nation was originally based, obsolete.

It has not been one person that has done all of this and it hasn’t even been one group that has done it.  It has been many people and many groups moving, pushing, working to move this nation away from observing God’s principles.  But people say that if the Church would repent and take her position in the world more seriously, these things would not be.  That makes no sense to me because the church has always been here and it has always worked to stand against evil.  It is that God has simply allowed evil to prevail in many cases because of where this world needs to get to in order for Him to be able to bring His full judgment to bear on this nation and on the world.

If Mr. Obama stood up right now and literally found Jesus and if he said he has repented of his sin and wanted to only do those things that brought glory to God in Christ Jesus from that moment on, what do you think would happen?  Do you honestly believe that the people (or even the majority of them) would follow suit and do as he has done?  I think – because evil is so prevalent in our society, that Mr. Obama would be summarily removed as president and another puppet would replace him.

The Bible tells us that this nation – as all nations – are moving to a time where God will release and unleash His wrath in the form of judgment throughout the entire earth.  But God be praised, what this will do is bring numbers into His Kingdom that are so large, no person can count them, as John says.  This is something that we should be praising God for because He said it and therefore we know He will do it.

So what should Christians be doing now?  How should we be living in light of what the Bible tells us is going to happen?  We should be living as a true light to a dark world.

I saw it on a friend’s wall on a social network.  I’m quoting it as it appears.  The woman was a Muslim and had become a Christian.

A FANATIC MUSLIM MAN WROTE TO ME: “Until the last drop of my blood and the last breath in me, I will find you and kill you. This is my life purpose” he said. He sent his picture along with his message. In his picture he was holding 2 machine guns and wearing a commando outfit. He had a green bandana on his forehead and a writing ‘For Allah’.

With a heavy heart, I went into my closet and I wept. I wept not because I feared my life. I already gave it up for Christ Jesus when I started going in front of the TV cameras. I wept because of the intense hatred in a man’s heart hurt me.

I talked to the Lord, ‘Lord, what would you do? How would you answer?’ Jesus said to me, ‘Remember, I died for this fanatic Muslim man too’ and He gave me the answer. I responded to the man. ‘You wrote me until your last drop of blood and last breath you will find me and kill me. I tell you Until the last drop in my blood and last breath I will love you. Because my Lord Jesus says: Love your enemies.’ After two weeks, he wrote me back, ‘I couldn’t believe what you wrote me. How can you love someone like me. How can Your God love me? Tell me your story.’ After several weeks of correspondences he surrendered his life to Jesus.”

Christian, we are going to have many chances to evangelize the world because they will seek out those who do not seem to fear.  They will want what we have.  They will want to know what it is that gives us peace.  They will ask why we do not fear Islam or the global elite.

We will answer them that it is because we have something more powerful, more beneficial, and eternal.  We have salvation that only comes from Jesus’ life, death, and His resurrection.

If that has not and does not make a difference in your life, then you are doing something wrong.  Either you truly do not have authentic salvation or you have allowed the cares and worries of this world to become your focal point for your life.

Give yourself to God.  Learn to depend upon Him.  Cast your cares upon Him because He cares for you (cf. 1 Peter 5:7).

Look, things are going to get really bad in the world.  How are you going to respond to it?  You can waste a good deal of time and energy trying to change a government that is likely too powerful for you to change or you can simply walk through the remaining days of your life knowing that you have a far higher calling and that calling has to do with getting the message of salvation out there to everyone who is still breathing.

Tell me, which scenario do you believe will honor God more?
