Truth About the Temple Mount in Jerusalem

October 15, 2010 at 12:11 PM

As I write this, I am at the Digging Deeper Bible Conference in Saskatoon, Canada.  I will be sharing the pulpit with Gary Fisher (Lion of Judah ministries), Dr. Randall Price, Dr. Thomas Sharp, Jeremy Hall (Exec. Director of Berean Watchmen) and others.  It is already a blessing to be here, even though the event has not yet officially begun.  I’m sitting at our book table waiting for things to begin, and was speaking briefly with Dr. Price.  He had available at his table a reproduction of a 1924 booklet that speaks to the problem of the Temple Mount.

It is not difficult at all to find the truth about the Muslim’s claim on the Temple Mount area.  Most today understand that as far as Islam goes, the Temple Mount is theirs and the fact that the Dome of the Rock stands there proves it (to them).  Another fact indicates that Islam today is doing everything it can to deny and even eradicate anything that has to do with the historical references to Jewish ownership/occupation of the Temple Mount.

To this end, often the rhetoric coming out of the mouths of militant Muslim clerics is that Jews have no right to the Temple Mount because they never possessed it at all.  This understanding however, did not come to the fore until Haj Amin al-Husseini came onto the scene (1897-1974) and hooked up with a guy by the name of Adolf Hitler.

Since al-Husseini came onto the scene, there has been an unmasked and unrivaled attempt to not only overthrow all Jewish claims to any part of Israel, but to make any historical mention of Jews disappear from the history books.

But the problem has to do with documents that exist which were written by Muslims prior to al-Husseini’s detrimental and militant posturing against Israel.  A Brief Guide to Al-Haram Al-Shariff, published in 1924 makes this more than abundantly clear, though militant Muslims and Islam in general does not seem to notice.  “The Supreme Muslim Council’s own words dating back to their 1924 Guide to the Temple Mount confirm the truth of the Jewish people’s unique relationship to these hallowed grounds dating back some three thousand years.” [1]  The booklet in question quotes the following:  “The site is one of the oldest in the world.  Its sanctity dates from the earliest times.  Its identity with the site of Solomon’s Temple is beyond dispute.  This, too, is the spot, according to universal belief, on which David built there an altar unto the Lord, and offerened burnt offerings and peace offerings (2 Samuel 24:25).” [2]

The bottom line is that the truth is there, but too many are unwilling to hear it, or be changed by it.
