When is a Jew Not a Jew?

No, that’s not a “riddle me this” question.  It’s an honest question, one that I was faced with when I came across an individual who said he was Jewish.  So when is a Jew not a Jew?  When he is a Muslim pretending to be Jewish for the sole purpose of harvesting souls for Islam.

The other day, I got into a discussion with someone who claimed to be Jewish.  He said he could trace his lineage directly back to Jacob.  He went on and on about how he hated all people who were not truly Jewish.  By that he meant anyone who even was Jewish in ethnicity, but did not – according to him – live as a Jew.

When I questioned about his obvious hatred, he replied that yes, he hated everyone who did not keep God’s laws.  He delighted in the fact that they were all going to go straight to hell (sounds like an aide for Maxine Waters).

The more I discussed things with him, the more flagrant and insulting he became.  When I pointed out that I supported the right of Israel to be a nation, his response was “who cares?” and that he did not need my support because he has God’s support.

He told me in no uncertain terms that Christians were worse than Muslims because of their mass killings of Jews.  He went on to say that he was glad that Muslims were working so hard to take over the world and to destroy America.

The longer the conversation went on, the more I realized that this man was not Jewish.  In fact, he sounded every bit like a radical Muslim to me and I told him so.

I tried to engage him in a discussion of Scriptures from the Tanakh (Old Testament), pointing out Ezekiel 36-39 and the fact that what God did with Israel was solely for one purpose:  for the sake of His holy Name.

He came back with a section of Scripture from Isaiah that had nothing to do with anything.  When I talked with him about Isaiah 53 and the Suffering Servant, he responded with the same passage from Isaiah that he had listed earlier.

As it turns out, this man spent time in an Israeli jail with quite a few imprisoned “Palestinians.”  Allegedly, he was incarcerated because he tried to enlist the help of certain IDF members to begin to do to others what terrorists were/are doing to Jews.  Apparently, even the judge overseeing his case referred to this man as a terrorist.

What I have found extremely interesting is when people have no answer of any depth for anything, they simply respond with sarcasm and cutting remarks.  This was true of this guy as well.  He accused me of maybe being able to read but I had no clue how to study.

Though he said he was Jewish, he also said he fought against other Jews who were not as Jewish as he was and he called those others “fake Jews.”

Like many, he makes no distinction between authentic Christians and those who merely profess to be Christian.  In fact, the world never makes this distinction either because they do not understand how a person becomes a Christian.  I’ve talked about this before here, the fact that becoming a true Christian is not done by simply doing the things Jesus did.  Anyone can do that (except perform His miracles).  Becoming a true Christian means experiencing the new birth Jesus spoke of in John 3.

This new birth may feel different to different people, or a person may feel nothing at all.  Faith is the hallmark of the Christian life.  Faith in God, faith in eternal security, faith in His promises and faith that Jesus is the Author and Finisher of our faith (life as Christians).

My Jewish accuser seemed to have no clue about the Mitzvot, or the 613 laws that Moses received and assigned to the people of Israel.  There were many things I mentioned that he seemed to have no clue about.

My conclusion is that since he admitted hating Jews and everyone else (except Muslims), then it is clear to me that this guy is only pretending to be Jewish, when in point of fact, he is very likely a radical Muslim.

One thing I failed to point out to him (not that it would have mattered to him) is that there is absolutely no way that he would be able to trace his lineage directly back to Jacob, or anyone else for that matter.  In A.D. 70, the Romans attacked and sacked Jerusalem.  The pretty much destroyed it.

The Temple was also destroyed at that time, set on fire by the priests who preferred that method of destruction than having the Temple become defiled by the pagan Romans.  According to more than one Jewish sage, it was this fire that destroyed all the records of Jewish lineage and tribal accounts.  Jews today cannot trace their lineage back to any particular tribe since that information is gone.

My arrogant friend has no way of tracing his lineage back to Jacob.  It is impossible because the evidence of it is gone.  The only people who would know which tribe they are from are those from the tribe of Levi, which I think is remarkable.  The only way they would know they are connected to that particular tribe is due solely to the name they have now.  Names like Cohen or Levi, or something similar indicates their connection to the tribe of Levi.  All the information for all other tribes is gone.

This is fascinating though because as we move toward the Tribulation, we see that orthodox Jews in Israel are intent on rebuilding the Jewish Temple.  As I have previously noted, they have built a full-scale Temple near Jericho for the sole purpose of training young men (from the tribe of Levi) to be priests in this coming Temple.  They are being trained in all aspects of sacrificial law and policy.

Getting back to my arrogant Jewish imposter, it seems clear to me that because of his seeming love for Islam and Muslims, as well as hatred for Jews and all the rest of humanity, he is nothing but a radical Muslim in disguise, hoping to prey on the unsuspecting, drawing them into his snare so that before they realize it, they will be caught up in Islam.  Once they realize it, it will be too late to do anything about it.  Trying to leave Islam is a death sentence.

It is amazing to me what depths radical Muslims will sink.  Here, we have one who is very probably pretending to be something he is not, a true, orthodox Jew.  His insults only serve to cover his own lack of knowledge where the Torah is concerned.  All of his responses were merely redirects, containing nothing of value that would indicate that he was/is actually Jewish.  Since he also lied about knowing his lineage, that in and of itself proves that he cannot be trusted.

So, when is a Jew not a Jew?  No, this is not a “riddle me this” question.  It’s an honest question, one that I had to deal with yesterday.  When is a Jew not a Jew? When he is a Muslim, pretending to be a Jew for the sole purpose of harvesting souls for Islam.  While it might be a new low that I have not come across before, it is not surprising that radical Islamists would stoop to this level.  After all, there are many passages in the Qur’an that teach that lying, stealing, and even murdering is perfectly fine, as long as it is done in the name of Allah.

Jesus said that Satan was a murderer from the beginning and when he speaks, he lies because that is his native language.  Do you see a connection here between Satan and what is taught in the Qur’an?  If not, then it simply means you have not read the Qur’an for yourself.  I would suggest that you do before another day goes by.
