Islam, Chrislam, and the Muslim Brotherhood

I have gotten to the two-thirds point in writing this book.  Here’s the cover which may still change.  There will be a good amount of material on everything in the title.  To me, it’s a bit tragic that seemingly so few really understand what’s going on in the world.

Prophecy is being fulfilled and God reigns.  Because of what the Bible teaches, it’s clear that many aspects of prophetic discourse are being fulfilled.  We have been experiencing a “falling away” as noted by the apostle Paul for some time.

It is interesting to see the astronomical growth of Islam throughout the world.  It is also just as interesting to see some pushback against Islam, as if Islam has begun to wear out its welcome.

Last week during my live BlogTalk Radio show, someone asked me what role I thought Islam would play in the End Times scenario.  The answer is frankly that it is difficult to tell.  I’ve read other individuals who are quite certain this, that or the other thing is going to happen.  I’ve laid out some possible scenarios, but there really doesn’t appear to be much in Scripture that deals directly with Islam.

Certainly, during the Tribulation period of seven years (still in the future), many Christians are said to be killed as martyrs (Revelation 20; see also Revelation 12).  Clearly, either this is a metaphor for death, or it refers to the actual way in which people will lose their lives because of the fact that they are unwilling (unable?) to recant their faith in Jesus.  One of the main ways that Islam executes people is through beheading.  If you’re a homosexual, you are executed via hanging though the truth is that often homosexuals are hung for “other” crimes.  If you are an adulterer, you are generally stoned to death.  Beheading is normally considered the supreme method of killing:

I will instill terror into the hearts of the unbelievers: smite ye above their necks and smite all their finger-tips off.” Qur’an 8:12

Therefore, when ye meet the Unbelievers (in fight), strike off their heads.Qur’an 47:4

I realize that at least some Muslims read the above verses and take them allegorically.  Unfortunately, whether they are meant to be taken that way or literally (I believe the Qur’an is to be taken literally), the plain fact of the matter is that there are millions of Muslims worldwide who believe those verses to be literal.  Therefore, punishment meted out this way includes beheading.

I recently visited the official “English” version of the Muslim Brotherhood website and it’s a bit funny, in an ironic kind of way.  They try to make themselves out to be watchdogs against human rights violations, but the truth is that they are guilty of plenty of human rights violations themselves, much of which has been thoroughly documented.

It’s interesting though, isn’t it, that many people in the United States have no problem with Mr. Obama’s involvement in the wars of Northern Africa – Tunisia, Sudan, Libya, Egypt, and more, when he sent the military in.  What he has essentially accomplished with his “kinetic military action” is to simply remove dictators so that the people would need to fend for themselves and watch the Muslim Brotherhood and other hardline Islamic groups rise to the top.  The people of these countries will not be better off and in fact, Christians are being burned out of their homes and their churches throughout Egypt, yet while Mubarak ruled, they enjoyed some semblance of peace.  No so any longer because militant Islamists have no room for anyone in Egypt who is not at the very least sympathetic with Islam.  Time to eradicate because there’s no one to stop them.

I’m hoping that the book will be done in the next month or so, but we’ll see how things go.  In the meantime, I would hope and strongly encourage you to do your own study about Islam and don’t take anyone’s word for it – including mine.  Do your own research and benefit yourself by arriving at conclusions you believe are justified by the information that is available…from all sources, not merely the sources that you feel comfortable reading or listening to because in the end, it is your responsibility to know what you think and why you think it.

Yes, I agree with you as a Muslim I believe all religions including the Christianity and respect their own rights but not totally. Some like drinking beer and wine, dog, swine and pork are still haram to me.
And I won’t criticize other religions like you do. As a Muslim I respect my country’s (Malaysia) law which forbade it as it causes disharmony to our peaceful nation.
For your info when I was in the grade school I attended a Mission Anglican school where the principal was a British Padre and most of the teachers were Christians. Though it was not compulsory for Muslim students, I studied Scripture as one of the subjects and passed it with a credit in the Cambridge School Certificate examination. I also attended the Church service. I found it interesting then, but never been convinced me to be baptized and converted to a Christian, I believe we are living in God’s created free world, you have to make your own choice and your own belief whether to to go to heaven or hell.
    Amen.

I don’t see Islam as respecting anything except its own primordial values unfortunately.

This is the main difference between Islam and Christianity. Your faith is based on what YOU are able to accomplish for Allah whereas my faith is built upon what Jesus has done. Islam provides you with no guarantees at all whereas thru Jesus my sins are fully expunged ans salvation given. This prompts me to live for Him.

You are required to earn your salvation. I am expected to receive what is freely given.

I do not criticize religion for the sake of it. I am critical of those religions in which humanity is taught that salvation must be earned. This attempts to add to the completed work of Jesus as far as salvation goes.

I am desperately sorry that you believe you must earn what you cannot instead of receiving what is freely given, (cf. Romans 10:9-10).

    Dear Modres,
I’ve been following some articles in your blogs and found that the verses you quoted from the Qur’an are not specific. Please be informed that the Holly Qur’an has 30 Juz [pronounce ‘jooz’] (Chapters) and has 114 Surah [pronounce ‘sooruh’ (titles) in the chapters. Some older English translation didn’t break it into chapters but mentioned the Surah as chapters. Each Surah has numbers of verses.
In this article you have quoted verses Qur’an 8:12 and 47:4, from which Surahs are they of the 114 Surahs (the 1st AL-FAATIHAH (THE OPENING) to the last SURAH AN-NAAS (THE HUMAN)?
Please be informed again that there are thousands of translated versions of the Holly Qur’an in the world which are not accepted by our Muslim Fatwa (regularized body). There are some anti-Muslim who try to discredit Islam, translating the Holly Qur’an by making their whim and fancy interpretation.
Please if you don’t mind tell us also from which translated version of the Qur’an that you are quoting.
    TQ.

Thanks for your comments. I am well aware that there are thousands of translations of the Qur’an and I am also aware that radical Muslims tend to use specific translations, but here in the West, Islamists tend to want to use the more watered-down versions of the Qur’an because they de-emphasize the physical, warlike or terrorist-type jihad which is carried out daily throughout the world.

Thank you, but I am also aware of how the Qur’an breaks down into chapters and Surahs, etc. I have been a student of the Qur’an for some time, yet I realize that since I am a Christian, you would say the meaning of the Qur’an is hidden to me. Funny though how the meaning of the Bible (you would say) is not hidden to you. I believe in previous comments to me, you merely proved that you do not have a grasp on the biblical text at all. That is the tragic part, because in IT – God’s Word – is life, not the Qur’an.

Anything that allows the world to see Islam through jaded or rose-colored glasses is the preferred way of looking at Islam in civilized countries. This is specifically why laws are being made throughout the world that protect Islam from criticism, yet these laws do not tend to extend to other religions, dogmas, or ideologies.

Regarding which translation I have quoted from, I’m not in my office, so I cannot tell you. I won’t be back in my office until this coming week either.

Regarding your comment “There are some anti-Muslim who try to discredit Islam, translating the Holly Qur’an by making their whim and fancy interpretation,” it’s a bit ludicrous considering the fact that you just admitted that there are thousands of translations. There is actually no way to know which translation is the “correct” one, but you seem to have chosen the ones you find superfluous.

The translation I prefer is also one with which you would disagree. It is the Generous Qur’an found here: http://thestraightway.org/

You would disagree with it because the man who translated it, though he was born, grew up, and lived within Egyptian culture most of his life, is a Christian, therefore, to you, his translation is suspect.

I would encourage you to do some deeper research on the Qur’an itself. Moreover, I would also encourage you to compare the Qur’an with the Bible because as a Muslim, you are supposed to believe the Bible as well, yet there are many things that Islam believes that seem to contradict Scripture.

      Thanks for writing.
