Norway’s Black Metal Group Taake Says Down with Muhammad

This band from Norway recently received a nomination for what is similar to a Grammy in America. Their latest album from 2011 titled Noregs Vaapen contains a song called Orkan. In it, lyrics essentially say that Muhammad can go to the netherworld and take Muslims with him.
To be fair, Taake (pronounced Toke with a long “o” sound and silent “e”) doesn’t like religion period. They are against anything that they believe stifles free speech. To them, both Christianity and Islam somehow do that, so they disagree with both.
Their website indicates that “Taake has never been a political band, and we do not encourage either violence or racism” and that “our view, in the name of freedom of expression, is that it is shameful to adhere to Christianity or Islam.” [1]
That’s their opinion of course, and they are certainly entitled to it. Here is the difference between true Christianity and radical Islam. Around the globe and especially in Norway are incensed and up in arms over what is considered to be blasphemy regarding Muhammad and Allah (since Muhammad is believed to have been Allah’s messenger).
If given the opportunity, there are radical Muslims who would likely want to kill these guys because what they are saying offends Islam, therefore it offends Allah. Radical Muslims believe it to be their obligation in life to defend and protect Allah’s name and his messenger, Muhammad.
For some Muslims, this is a full time job, which is why they are always lifting some type of weapon (or setting off bombs). They become angered when someone speaks against Islam or Muhammad. Their anger is believed to be righteous anger and the results of that anger is justified as far as they are concerned.
True Christians do not argue against such songs. We don’t wish these people dead. We pray for them. Radical Muslims believe that it is through the death of the perpetrator that they somehow can become exonerated. Christians believe that a person who dies without ever entering into a relationship with Jesus becomes the object of God’s eternal wrath.
It is God who takes vengeance and that is clearly spelled out in Scripture (cf. Romans 12:19 where Paul quotes the Hebrew Bible). It is one thing to defend yourself against a criminal act, but God has established laws and courts so that justice is actually meted out in the fairest way possible. Individuals are not supposed to take the law into their own hands. We are to strive to be as lawful as we possibly can be.
Many Muslims throughout the world prefer the laws of Sharia, believing that those laws supersede all laws. Because of this, they are not beholden to the laws of “man,” but to the laws set forth by Allah through Muhammad.
This is exactly why for the radical Islamist, killing a person who is believed to have offended Muhammad or Allah is fully permissible and is behavior that is upheld within Islam. Therefore if a Muslim takes vengeance on someone for offending Allah or Muhammad, and that Muslim is caught and jailed, that becomes a badge of honor.
It’s no different from the mentally challenged individual who SAYS he is a Christian and decides that God wants him to shoot an abortion doctor or blow up an abortion clinic. That person is NOT a Christian. Jesus would NEVER have done that as He lived His life. The only time He was violent was when He overturned the money changers’ tables, but even then, He did not physically attack anyone. He attacked their livelihood because He knew they were cheating people. Besides, Jesus was and remains God so for Him to do it is fully permissible. For us? Not so much.
Music has been attacking Christians and Christianity for decades. It doesn’t matter to me. I can easily avoid the garbage that’s out there. I don’t need to take the law into my own hands to “correct” something, or protect and defend my God. It is He who protects and defends ME against the enemy of my soul – the devil; Satan, who was once Lucifer.
Radical Muslims believe that it is their job to exterminate all who oppose Islam. Islam has always been political and has applied its views in a militaristic way whenever necessary. The Roman Catholic Church had its excesses as well, but thankfully, that is way behind us and even more thankfully, there was something called the Reformation, which attempted to separate itself from the over indulgences of the Roman Catholic Church. It succeeded to a point and we now have Protestantism.
Most people living today believe that the Inquisition perpetrated by Roman Catholic Church was wrong and if something like that began to occur today, hopefully, it would be stomped out (figuratively speaking) before it gained any ground at all. The Inquisition was reprehensible and should not have occurred.
Yet here we have another group – Islam – that believes that a militaristic approach to society is perfectly acceptable. No, it’s not. It is not okay to kill people who merely SAY things that those within Islam do not want to hear and may believe is not true.
I could say the same thing about how Islam derides Christianity. Muhammad arrives on the scene roughly 600 years AFTER Jesus and decides that Jesus did not die on the cross. Who is he to say so? Everything in the New Testament and even much from the Hebrew Bible implies, alludes to, or states without equivocation that He died.
In that manner, Muhammad calls me a liar. He calls Jesus a liar. He calls the writers of the New Testament liars. If Muhammad were alive today, should I wish for his death? Should I hope someone would step up to end his life? Not at all.
Though Muhammad’s teachings are dead set against Scripture, that doesn’t matter to Muslims, because they say that the Bible is corrupt. Really? I am not supposed to be offended at that? According to them, I should not be offended because they are simply stating the “truth.” But when the truth is presented about Muhammad’s life, that same truth when stated by someone outside of Islam is cause for vengeance.
It does not work to say that we worship the same God because we don’t. I worship Jesus Christ who is Savior, Lord, and God. Muhammad is none of these things. Jesus is seen by Islamists as a messenger like Muhammad. Unfortunately for Islam, Jesus is the WORD and according to His own testimony about Himself, was alive at the beginning and continues forever (John 1:1-14).
I don’t care what music groups say in their lyrics. It does not bother me one iota. I feel sorry for them actually. My heart goes out to them because like the Romans soldiers who nailed Jesus to the cross, they too may not be fully aware of what they are doing. That’s not an excuse. It is to say that God takes all things into consideration and these men in Taake will be judged accordingly.
I am in no position to act as judge or jury. All I can do is critique information as it presents itself to me. God judges. God will have vengeance on those who offend Him. He will do it. He doesn’t need me to do it for Him. I am not qualified. He needs me to love people by praying for them, helping them understand the truth of Scripture, and pointing out fallacies when I can. What they do with that information is certainly up to them and it is dependent upon whether or not God opens their eyes.
I hope He has opened yours…

Wow. I saw a picture of this group and it provoked my prayer for their souls’ salvations! 😯
One of the members said they were going after Christianity, too, but no one complained about that. This may open their eyes to who is the more tolerant of their mockings. It may get them to thinking, at least.
