Islam: the Religion of Peace Strikes Again

March 22, 2012 at 1:34 PM 2 comments

It was recently reported that an American who was studying Arabic and teaching English in Yemen was brutally gunned down by Al Qaeda.  Why?  “It was God’s gift for the mujahedeen to kill the American Joel Shrum who was actively proselytizing under the cover of teaching in Taiz.” [1]

Between this and the terrorist of Toulouse France who gunned down four Jewish individuals as a statement for his religion, we see that in spite of what liberals and moderate Muslims would have us believe, Islam is far from a being a religion of peace.  In fact, it appears to be marked as a death cult than anything else.

There is a website called “Muslims for Peace – Love for All” in which Muslims have gotten together to condemn terrorism.  They say “Islam teaches us how to create peace within ourself (sic) and how to make peace with our fellow man — regardless of color, politics or beliefs.” [2]

Regarding terrorism, this same group states, “Terrorism has never had a place in Islam. We have been condemning terrorism ever since our community was formed over 120 years ago.” [3]

As far as jihad is concerned, their definition is “True Jihad was only ever used in self-defense. We believe that, nowadays, the best self-defense is to win the hearts of your enemies through ideas, peace and love.” [4]

All this is certainly well and good, but what I have noticed is that groups like this one seem more intent on educating (or is that proselytizing or propagandizing) those who are not Muslim.  Unfortunately, at least as far as we know, the problem does not lie with the non-Muslim, but with the radical Muslim.  The ones who need to get and receive this message of peace, etc., are the ones who are committing the acts of terrorism.  Yet, Muslims in general prefer to continue their educational strategies with people whom they believe know little to nothing about Islam.

It is difficult for me to follow their rationale simply because of what I know about Muhammad.  He was a man who lived by the sword.  He did not hesitate to kill those who stood against him, or refused to receive him as messiah.  He is known for slaughtering entire villages of people.  This is not a man of peace.  This is a murderer.

Yet today, we have people who still continue to believe that Islam represents peace to the world and websites like the one quoted from are more than happy to continue to push that belief on unsuspecting people.

But even if Islam were truly a religion of peace, it is obvious that a large percentage of Muslims have a different view of Islam.  They believe peace comes only through war, through acts of terrorism, and through murderous rampages that leave innocent people lying dead in their own pools of blood.

It is not enough for moderate Muslims to sit by and say that Islam is a religion of peace.  It is not enough to say that there is no compulsion within Islam.  It is not enough to espouse that Islam believes in the rights of all individuals regardless of race, creed, or religious ideology.  It is not enough because of the fact that the founder of Islam was a man of war without the blood of countless innocents on his hands.

There are over 120 verses in the Qur’an dictating to Muslims that killing the infidel is pleasing to Allah.  Groups like Muslims for Peace avoid this simply by allegorizing the Qur’an.  To them, jihad is an inner struggle, not an outward, physical struggle against infidels.  Again though, the problem is that there are way too many Muslims in this world who believe that jihadisa physical struggle against those who are perceived to be enemies of Islam.  An enemy is anyone who is not Muslim.

Joe Shrum was brutally gunned down by individuals within Islam who believe that they are doing Allah a favor (a gift to God) by ridding the world of someone who was practicing their religion.  Maybe Joe was attempting to proselytize, but is this worthy of death? Within Islam…yes.

Yet here in the United States, Muslims are free to practice their religion and they are free to proselytize.  Unfortunately, there are Christians within the United States who have been arrested for daring to proselytize on the public street outside a mosque.  Who called the police?  The peaceful Muslims within the mosque.  How is it against the law for a person to be on a public sidewalk outside a building simply handing out pamphlets to those who are interested in possibly dialoguing?  The “peaceful” Muslims inside their mosque might not be so peaceful after all.

That leads us to a question: how does one know who is and who is not peaceful? Surely in the Middle East, it can be assumed that more times than not, the Muslim there is too often out for blood all in the name of Allah.

Joel Shrum was a 29-year-old native of Mount Joy, Pennsylvania who was killed without mercy, leaving behind two young sons and a wife.  This is apparently the kind of “gift” that pleases Allah.  Really?  If that is so, then Allah has nothing to do with the God of the Bible, in spite of what too many people today would have us believe.

Someone will point to Jim Jones, or David Koresh, or some other whacked out individual who said he was a Christian.  They will say as some did recently that Islam has a lot of catching up to do to be even with the atrocities of the Christian church over the centuries.  The unintended implication is that we should either leave Islam alone because they have not been as brutal as Christians have, or Islam is merely child’s play compared to the true brutality of Christianity.  In either case, they are wrong.

These absurd excuses pour forth from the mouths of people who likely believe they are intelligent.  If we consider the facts, the atrocities found within the early stages of Roman Catholicism (as terrible as those were) cannot be compared to the atrocities of Hitler’s regime, or to the modern-day period of slaughter perpetrated by Muslims throughout the world.  In fact, there have been nearly 20,000 acts of terrorism committed since 9/11 and all of them by Muslims.  We live in 2012.  This is not A.D.200 or A.D. 600.

We like to think the world has matured and grown up a bit, yet what we are witnessing is a decided regression to the tragedies of yesteryear where life really meant little to nothing.  That seems to be the case today with radical Muslims hell-bent on taking out anyone who is considered to be the enemy of Islam.

A colleague at the language center, who spoke on condition of anonymity for fear of reprisal, said Shrum used to encourage Yemenis to stay true to their Islamic faith and did not try to convert people to Christianity.

He said Shrum not only taught Yemenis English, but would often buy students books and assist them in learning computer skills.” [5]

Whether Shrum did or did not openly try to convert people to Christianity is something only God knows.  To the terrorists who gunned him down without provocation, they are convinced that he deserved what he got, even calling themselves “holy warriors.”

It was interesting to note that throughout the event in which French police had the suspect in the Toulouse France murders holed up in his apartment, CNN refused to refer to the murderer as a Muslim.  This is in spite of the fact that during the siege, the suspect admitted to police that he was part of Al Qaeda and admitted killing the individuals in question; first police officers and then Jewish individuals.  All of those deaths were due to the suspect’s ties to terrorism and his ties to terrorism was due unfortunately to his ties with Islam.

It is clear that terrorist acts are not going away.  The biggest problem is wondering whether or not that moderate Muslim over there is going to one day come out of his peaceful shell and kill you because he believes that killing you is just the gift that Allah needs that day.

With respect to the terrorist in Toulouse France, by all accounts, the suspect was a partier and not necessarily politically motivated.  He liked his motorcycles and worked in a car body shop.  Repeatedly, we hear that none of his friends suspected anything.

We also read that the majority of Muslims in France are now expecting a backlash because of this recent act of terrorist aggression.  It’s ironic isn’t it? Instead of coming out to vocally condemn the actions of one man, the Muslim community is worried that their own safety may be in jeopardy.  Maybe if they were more willing to do things that would at least cause people to believe that they fully rejected terrorism in any form, more people might be willing to believe that they themselves posed no threat.

Daily we read about Muslims who want and expect to receive special privileges so that they can continue to wear full burkas that cover everything except their eyes and they insist that is the way they should be photographed for their I.D. cards.  Or how about the Muslim women who refused to remove the part of her burka that covered her face for jury duty.  Instead of being charged with a crime, she was released from serving.  There is a double standard and it is called Islam.

With all of my own personal study of Islam, I am unable to see how people – without allegorizing it – can come to believe Islam is a religion of peace.  In fact, it boggles my mind.

Liam Neeson went so far as to say that he loved how the prayers sounded and that made him want to become a Muslim (my paraphrase).  Didn’t even matter what was being prayed; just that it sounded beautiful.  Brilliant.

Again, I’ll remind us all of what the apostle Paul said to Timothy in his second letter to him.  “This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come.

2For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy,

3Without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good,

 4Traitors, heady, highminded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God;

5Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away,” (2 Timothy 3:1-5).

To me, this describes among other things, Islam and the way it foists itself upon society whether through demanding special privileges or through acts of terrorism.  As long as bleeding heart liberals continue to ignore the problem, it won’t go away.  It will merely get worse.

ABC Owes Christian Women Apology for “GCB” The Growing Footprint of Evil

Islam is not even a religion. Sharia Law is barbaric and it should be banned everywhere in the western free Christian world. Muslims have no place in the western free modern society.

That website makes a bit of a confession when they say they have been speaking out against terrorism for 120 years.

Good point concerning the education of us non-muslims about their peaceful religion when the radical muslims should be their target.
