Ready, Set, GO! And They’re Off!

Wow, they haven’t waited long at all!  In less than TWO days – 48 hours – things have already begun to change dramatically in America.  Let’s look at just a few in this brief update:

Joblessness/Economy
The layoff notices are coming fast and furious (no pun)!  I mentioned a few days before the election that the Obama administration had asked Lockheed to not announce the upcoming 23,000 layoffs planned to occur a few weeks before Christmas.  The administration asked Lockheed to hold off announcing those layoffs until after the election for obvious reasons.

The law requires that employees to be laid off will receive 60 days notice before their layoff takes effect.  Lockheed went along with the Obama administration and held off on their announcement, but it also meant that the employees would not receive a full 60 days notice.  No problem.  Mr. Obama promised that the government (the taxpayer) would pick up the tab for all severance packages to the tune of millions of dollars.

But that’s not all.  In the past 48 hours, the following companies have announced layoff plans:

Now, am I saying that these layoffs are Mr. Obama’s fault?  Only indirectly because it proves that our economy has been faltering for some time and has actually not improved at all, but continues to spiral downward.

One area that has had increased sales is gun and ammo sales.  In fact, following the election that just occurred, sales of guns and ammo are skyrocketing and stock in gun companies is also rising sharply because of it.

Anti-Gun Lobby
The anti-gun lobby has also wasted no time in putting forth the effort to rid our streets of guns.  Sen. Diane Feinstein of California will be once again pushing through more anti-gun laws in her state.  She wants to ban all assault rifles, high-capacity magazines, and (for some reason), pistol grips. When the word “assault” connected to “rifle” is tossed around, the average person thinks of a tactical weapon that acts like a machine gun.  You know, hold the trigger down and it continues firing until you release the trigger.  This is what the average person believes that James Holmes used in his massacre at a theater in Colorado.  In actuality, a true assault rifle is not what Holmes used, but because of its tactical features, people are convinced that it is a true assault rifle because it looks scary and because he was able to kill and/or wound that many people in such a short time.

The weapon Holmes used is what is referred to as an AR-15.  AR-15s are rifles that have a tactical look to them and will only fire as fast as a person can pull the trigger.  They are – like most handguns – semi-automatic in nature.  Ask any gangbanger.  They know the difference because many of those guys carry Uzi Pistols which are fully automatic weapons.  These weapons fire 9mm rounds at 600 shots per minute.  That’s 10 bullets per second.

Now, in spite of all the evidence to the contrary – that removing guns from law-abiding citizens makes society a safer place – people like Feinstein continue to push ahead with their plan to disarm society.  Of course, when we say they want to disarm society (which is their ultimate goal), they are never including criminals or gangbangers because they know that they cannot take guns away from these individuals unless they are arrested for the most part.

Legislators assume that if they make laws, the populace will comply.  They will in places like California because if they don’t, the authorities will come knocking.  Every gun that is purchased in that state is fully registered with the DOJ.  Beyond this, California is the only state I know of that also has a DOJ Approved Handgun List.  This means that if the gun you want to purchase is not on the list and you are a resident of California, you can’t buy it, even though it might be available in nearly every other state.  California has some of the strictest gun policies in the country.  Arriving in the south from California after having spent 25-years there was like breathing fresh air for the first time!

Now, beyond this, the Obama administration has wasted no time in pushing things with the UN to broker a treaty that would effectively ban guns in the United States.  Even if the Obama administration signs that agreement, it would need to be ratified by Congress because of that annoying document we call the U.S. Constitution.  If push comes to shove though, there may be a way for the Obama administration to circumvent that as well.  That would be by appointing at least one new Supreme Court Justice from the Left.  Once that individual is in place, then Mr. Obama could obtain anything he wished.  Sure, let it go all the way to the Supreme Court (where any lawsuits pertaining to something as big as a full-blown gun ban would wind up) and let them decide on it.  Bam! 5-4 or 6-3, it passes in the administration’s favor.

I read one other article today that highlighted what I’ve said.  The article is called “Democratic Victory Will Unleash Obama, Top Backers Say” [2] and the link is below.  Essentially, the article tells us what most of us already know; that with the election behind him and no worries about any future election, Mr. Obama will be able to let his hair down and be himself.  The article states that it “frees him to be who he is.”

In truth (and I am not saying this as a form of disrespect), Mr. Obama really has no need to worry about placating other politicians, telling the media anything, or worrying about how a failure might work against him in another election.  Mr. Obama can simply sit back, do what seems best to him and let the chips fall where they may.

I wrote an article on this the day after the election in disagreement with those who are saying that the tight election did not give Mr. Obama a mandate.  Of course it did!  The article tells us that from his backers.  Yes, Mr. Obama is essentially free to do what suits him and that is his mandate.

Filibuster?
Of course, you’ve already probably heard of Harry Reid’s plan to push through legislation that would limit and curtail GOP filibustering.  No word on whether or not Reid is concerned about coming together on a budget though, one that our government has not had in several years, against the dictates of the Constitution (that old thing?)

So what we are seeing is a start of things to come.  We will continue to see a greater loss of jobs, which translates to higher unemployment, which will also translate to greater national debt.  We will see where all of this takes us.

Take some time to go there and read some of those articles or buy some of his books.  They are very enlightening.  I think once you begin reading his work, you won’t be able to quit.  But, be prepared to have your eyes seriously opened.  What I particular enjoy about Cuddy is that he never comes across as a sensationalist in any way, in my opinion.  He simply presents information in a readable fashion that will draw the reader in.  Take some time to peruse his writings.
