Heretics Falling Away
Several “names” within Christendom have done such an about face with respect to their Christianity, that they happily admit to no longer being Christians.
- Josh Harris – Christian author and pastor
- Paul Maxwell – former Desiring God writer and author of The Trauma of Doctrine
- Marty Sampson – popular Christian songwriter for Hillsong
The above three individuals have literally fallen away from the faith, proving the very words of the apostle John.
They went out from us, but they were not of us; for if they had been of us, they would no doubt have continued with us: but they went out, that they might be made manifest that they were not all of us. (1 John 2:19 KJV)
It appears that not only were these individuals not authentically saved (according to John’s words), but the fact that they were so high-profile and then fell away serves to provide fodder for the world to blaspheme God (2 Samuel 12:14). Each of the above named individuals has his reason(s) for leaving the faith and they all state they are now “happy.” I can see why. They were living a lie and their consciences bothered them. Now that they have “come out” as non-Christians, they are actually being true to themselves so the irritation is gone.
It’s as though Satan uses these folks to lead others astray, isn’t it? The people who follow these folks will also likely begin to question God. They will start to see themselves as anchored to a system (Christianity) they do not understand and because of the awareness of their own growing duplicity within, may also begin to doubt and eventually leave the faith because they look up to these leaders and their “honesty.” They will miss the point that these leaders were not honest before but will be held up as “heroes” who walked through the valley of uncertainty and came out in victory on the other side. People like this generally end up embracing all religious systems except Christianity.
Who else will we see from the star-studded field of “celebrity” Christians finally falling away from God and His holy Word? I’m sure many others because Paul warned that this time would come in 2 Thessalonians 2:3:
Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition… (KJV)
We should not be surprised to see this occurring throughout the world of Christendom. The beginning of the Tribulation continues its approach.
Racism?
Yesterday, we had a missionary family to Haiti at our church. The husband spoke and the wife sang a song that was special to her. It was a real blessing. He spoke of how he had come from Haiti years ago and had absolutely no desire to go back. He and his family spent years in Colorado after legally immigrating to the USA. But the Lord worked on his heart and now they are going through the process of gaining the funds needed.
In his message, he talked about the problem of the heart and how Christians are “sent” to set the captives free. He stated that racism is also simply a problem of the heart. He mentioned the fact that though he is black, he is treated worse by lighter skinned people in Haiti even though he himself is Hatian and speaks French and other dialects there. He also stated that some Haitians act like they are “white” if they become rich. Fascinating, isn’t it? Satan’s goal is to pit people against people and he has always done that starting with Cain and Abel. Racism has always been an issue and not one culture is exempt from it. Not one.
Pray for these missionaries, will you? They look forward to hopefully getting to Haiti this summer through Baptist World Mission.
More on CV-19
The Washington Post, is now preaching about how Christians should absolutely rejoice in the fact that a CV-19 vaccine is here. Of course, what they did was tap Russell Moore and Walter Kim. The former is head of the Southern Baptist Convention’s (SBC), “ethics” arm, which creates progressive policies that have been moving the SBC to the Left for some time. The gist of the article is that evangelicals should fight conspiracy theories and welcome the (CV-19) vaccine.
It’s an absurd article and nothing but propaganda written by at least one propagandist who likely brings home a six-figure or better salary while he helps destroy the SBC. The writers use Scripture to “prove” their points, but for those who have and use critical thinking skills, it’s not difficult to see through their game.
The Epoch Times is reporting several things that are cause for concern. First, they note that “Only Vaccinated Persons Can Board Evacuation Vessels to Leave Island Volcano: St. Vincent” In essence then, those who have not gotten the vaccine are forced to remain behind with the volcano. What happens if they die because of it? Won’t someone be responsible for that? Those who made that decision will likely absolve themselves, redirecting blame back onto the people who objected to receiving gene-therapy (not a vaccine).
Second, The Epoch Times also reports that “CCP Virus Variant Affects Vaccinated People More Than Unvaccinated People.” I don’t mean to sound sarcastic, but this is a big “duh” for those of us who have read and/or listened to a variety of medical experts on both sides of the issue. The article notes that a study from Tel-Aviv University has determined that a South African variant of the CCP virus affects people vaccinated with the Pfizer shot more than unvaccinated people. The study has not yet been peer-reviewed, but initial reports are that the particular African variant is found in 8 times as many people vaccinated versus those who were not vaccinated. The study looked at 400 people who received at least one shot of the Pfizer/BioNTech vaccine and had also contracted the CV-19 variant.
Epoch also reports that 40 percent of Marines or about 48,000 have declined to receive the CV-19 vaccine. I wasn’t aware that they could decline it, but there you go. Yet, people are tripping over each other throughout the world to receive the injection(s). Top military officials are still referring to CV-19 as a “pandemic.”
CV-19 is not going away. I find it fascinating that many Christians live in abject fear of this virus, yet exercise virtually no fear of God, His power and might. There is a huge disconnect in thinking here. I’m not afraid to die one bit. I try to avoid stupid mistakes (although my life has had its share of them), and in general, appreciate the value of each day. That said, it appears that our government wants us to live in constant fear of a virus that has a 99%+ survival rate. It makes no sense whatsoever. I have more of a chance of being killed by lightning standing in my own yard during a thunder storm than dying from CV-19.
Truth in Numbers?
Haven’t we always been told that Hitler murdered some 6 million Jews as well as millions of other non-Jews during his murderous rampage of parts of Europe? Well, apparently, the folks at the Holocaust Encyclopedia are telling us that only between 160,000 and 180,000 were murdered. They say many Jews left Germany and emigrated to other parts of the world and many others died in Jewish “ghettos” throughout Germany and elsewhere. I guess they’re trying to downplay the heinous acts of history’s well-known madman.
Being Different Can Kill You
Another reader sent this article from the folks at Tsiyon News. They make some cogent points about the “problems” associated with being different. Most folks like to go out into society and see other people dressed the same and acting the same with only minor modifications allowed. When people come across someone who is deliberately bucking the system to live the way they want to live, it is off-putting to most and downright annoying to others.
They also point out that the church (Christendom), does little to deal with this since in many ways, churches today try hard to go along with the world’s system. Why do churches do this? I’ve touched on this subject before but in their own words, Tsiyon notes that churches generally “…seek to be acceptable to the world, to the majority. They see that as the most effective way to retain and attract members, and to attract the world’s wealth. While the big show seems to work for mega-churches, it has not worked generally, as Church membership is dramatically falling. Remember, walking in the truth is a narrow way! Very often that narrow way must be just you and the Lord. Now, that’s different, isn’t it?”
I believe this goes back to the point I made in my last article, “Failure to Fear the Lord,” which addresses the issue of the average Christian’s inability or unwillingness to learn to fear (have proper, profound reverential respect/awe), the Lord. Isn’t it appalling that so many churches today have such large budgets and can afford to not only pay their senior pastors as much as six-figure incomes, but often have a large staff of ministers. I often wonder what Paul or Jesus would think of this and I honestly cannot believe it would be good.
Our anti-Christian society wants us all to conform. They want churches to play by their rules or go completely underground. They don’t like it when some pastors try to buck the world’s system and government officials then decide to come down on them for their unwillingness to tow the line. But in fact, Christians have a much higher calling and it is now past time for us to realize and understand this. If we say we are Christians, shouldn’t we understand and live in a way that prompts us to follow Jesus regardless of the cost?
Grow in your godly fear Him this week!

I only recently learned what “christian syncretism” is. It occurred to me that much of what passes for our christian traditions might be labeled that?
I was wondering if this mad push and acceleration of Marxism (which will fail and is not the will of the majority) will cause the majority to more readily accept peace in the name of blend of religions, including the world system version of Christianity? Somewhere when Jesus warned they would not accept Him, but would accept another who comes in His own name, I wonder if He was referring to the anti christ to come. In any event, There seems to be a danger of the push back of the far right being very great.
We have learned, sadly, that most churches around us are so into the kingdom now mindset that they are completely disconnected from the OT..it’s like they started a new religion.
On a side note, I am reading Pentecost’s book called “Things to Come”; I’m not sure I could have appreciated or understood it before now, but it sure does explain the roots of how the church has gone off the rails…and has been going off the rails since the very beginning. It seems there is no greater act of rebellion against God, than to be an intelligent and capable Bible scholar, and instead of interpreting God’s Word as He meant it, to redefine it and then, in the guise of being a teacher, disseminate the new meaning according to one’s own view. It really is an outright rejection of God’s Word veiled in scholar aptitude. This is the same thing we see today..
Thanks for all you share and your exhortation to fear the LORD.
Hebrews 12:28…Therefore, since we receive a kingdom which cannot be shaken, let’s show gratitude, by which we may offer to God an acceptable service with reverence and awe;

Yes, I believe too many churches throughout the USA have been infected with a form of syncretism that guides them. They have one foot in the world and one foot in the Kingdom or they think they do. In essence, they are compromising with the world to win the world’s favor but believe they are being obedient to God.
You wrote, “Somewhere when Jesus warned they would not accept Him, but would accept another who comes in His own name, I wonder if He was referring to the anti christ to come.”
Yes, ultimately, I believe He was referring exactly to the Antichrist. Absolutely.
Pentecost’s book is very good.
Thanks Jen.

The insanity and satanic workings in our midst are almost unbearable.
Thank you for sharing the testimony of the Haitian missionaries. It is refreshing to hear of those who still haven’t bowed the knee.
I have arrived at the place where I have nothing to say to those who still reject the Gospel. I am praying for God’s heart for the lost, because at this point letting them eat the fruit of their own ways sounds pretty good to me. Just get us off this planet, LORD!
Wheaton College, once heralded as a prestigious christian school (though I do not fully endorse Billy Graham’s doctrine) is now removing offensive plaques. This article is enough to make us weep.
Do we think perhaps its better for the “church” to go underground? Where, for centuries God has still moved in the lives of his saints and reached the lost? Because, it doesn’t seem like the prominence the church occupied has led to retained Truth and doctrine.

Hi Jen,
Thanks for your comments. It almost seems as though people in America need to be left alone for God to work with them as He chooses. For some there may be considerable heartache ahead, who knows?
When I heard the missionaries to Haiti yesterday, my faith was renewed. I have come to believe that many to most in America are jaded. They’ve heard the Gospel so often that they are unaffected by it. This does not mean God won’t open the eyes of people living in America any longer (though there may come that time). I think He will do that but when I compare that to the people of some country like Haiti who are literally RIPE for harvest, it causes me to be excited about what God is doing there and other places like that.
The missionary shared that in a few events they held there, many people came to the Lord. The difficulty is that there is much syncretism there with a full blending of religion with voodoo. Haitians need to learn that only Christianity plus nothing else is the only way to heaven and they are learning that.
Regarding Wheaton, the same has happened to my old alma mater, Philadelphia College of Bible. They went off the rails long ago and it appears that this is happening more regularly. Clearly, Satan is at work doing what he does best. The Lord allows it to clean house.
Too much within Christendom is failing – absolutely. I honestly believe the time is coming when authentic Christians will probably get together with like-minded Christians for fellowship apart from the church setting. I could be wrong of course, but it appears that this seems to be occurring to a great degree.
