Wegman’s Supermarket Update

This just in from Atlas Shrugs and since pointed out the problem previously, we thought we’d offer this update to keep our readers up to date as well.

Kudos to the thousands of Atlas and SIOA members who voiced their concern to Wegman’s over the halal checkout line, a story/action alert Atlas broke over the weekend here. Apparently it was not corporate policy but one dhimmi employee who took it upon himself to give special rights to a Muslim employee.

We applaud Wegman’s decision to restore the checkout line for all foods. SHOP WEGMAN’S! I strongly recommend that Atlas readers politely write a thank you note to Wegmans.

It is not Wegmans’ policy to permit signage like this for any religious or lifestyle reason. The decision to post the sign was made at store level by a single employee, and it has since been reversed. The sign has been removed. We have coached the store on other ways they could have addressed the concerns of this employee, who knew when she took the job that it would include handling these products. We apologize if this has offended anyone.
